So if you are in doubt, [O Muhammad], about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so never be among the doubters. - Surah 10:94
I find it strange God commands Muhammad to consult the Jews and Christian regarding the revelations yet at the same time Muslims believe the scriptures have been fabricated. I’ve heard the argument that God meant Muhammad should confirms things that have been revealed in general not specifics. I don’t see anything in the context that suggests this sort of caution. As a matter of fact Muhammad should be able to confirm ALL the revelations received up to this point of his life. The revelation of Surah 19 was given chronologically before Surah 10; this is what we read:
*And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, “Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten.” – Surah 19:23
[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah . He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. – Surah 19:30*
Now if Muhammad had asked the Christians to confirm this revelation regarding the birth of Christ they would immediately say “no way Hosay!”. How do Muslims explain this?
