“He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.” – Surah 3:3

I’ve read the tafsir regarding this verse by Ibn Abbas and Ibn Kathir, they both agree the Gospel is the written scripture not just what Jesus taught orally. That being the case how do Muslims explain manuscripts (partial and complete) that pre-date Mohammed’s birth match what we have today?

They would say: Prove first that it pre-dates Mohammed’s birth…

I think it’s very difficult to convince them even with a confirmation by a radioactive scan from geological laboratories…
