Surely I'm not the only one left in this boat, am I?

The infertility sticky and other support groups are like totally dead. But with 50,000 + members and the infertility rate being 1 in 10 couples I have a hard time imagining that I’m all alone here. So, where is everyone? I know it’s a difficult and lonely cross to have to carry, I’ve carried it for 4.5 years! But instead of hiding from others, to avoid the tears and pain (oh boy do I know about that!,) let us instead come together so we can encourage and pray for one another. We might be in the minority, but we certainly aren’t alone. :hug3:

Me!

I’m pregnant now (and actually due any day now), but it took a long time to get here…and the removal of part of my reproductive system via major surgery.

It is only by the grace of God that I am pregnant, because I was given less than a 5% chance of getting pregnant even with the assistance of Clomid or similar drugs. Amazingly we found out I was pregnant just 2 weeks before I was supposed to start my first round of medication!

God works wonders!

Oh, financemom, how wonderful! God does work wonders for us, sometimes when we least expect it or when we have given up hope. I hope your childbirth experience is beautiful!

I’ve been in the boat for twenty-two years (I should be made captain by now!) All I can say is that the only thing that got us through those early years of pain and being discouraged was finding the courage to say “Not OUR will, but THINE be done”, which meant taking “having children” out of that box labeled “getting pregnant” and adopting our son. He is sixteen now and I cannot imagine what our lives would have been like without having him these sixteen years… which we would have missed had we been able to have a biological child. And I wouldn’t trade a single second of the last sixteen years for the houseful of kids DH and I asked for 22 years ago.

So when I get discouraged (yes, I still do… I’m only 43; the clock is still ticking, and my BIL’s wife–they got married the same year we did–is expecting #13!) I remind myself that sometimes God doesn’t give us what we ask for because He’s got something better in mind. We just have to trust Him.

You’re in my prayers.

Thank you financemom and bluerose for posting. Many prayers for you both. :hug3:

I came here hoping to talk with others in this boat actually. My husband & I have been trying to conceive for 2 years now. We’ve had numerous tests & found out I have PCOS. We’ve done some fertility treatments & are trying to figure out our next steps in that regard.

I think one reason that sticky doesn’t get many posters is due to people choosing IVF and other methods not approved by the CC.I have 2 friends that conceived through IVF with their priests blessing. They were told it was okay as long as no embyos were destroyed(none were)
Anyone that has gone through fertility treatments would be afraid to post there with their experiences,in my opinion.

I’m not afraid!
😃
We’ve been through 6 IUIs, none of which have worked. We’re thinking about doing IVF towards the end of this year if no miracle pregnancy happens. We’ve been doing the Creighton method for a while now. If we do IVF & end up with frozen embryos, we have already discussed & agreed we will use all of them ourselves for future pregnancies. And FWIW, the likelyhood someone going through IVF has a bunch of leftover frosties is slim to none. IVF is emotionally, physically & financially exhausting.
