Please keep me in your prayers next Friday (June 26th) as I am going to have surgery. This is my eighth surgery so at least I’m not nervous. 😉 But I am in a ton of pain, and if this doesn’t help I might have to get a hysterectomy or go on Birth Control pills. Neither of which appeal to my Catholic conscience (though I realize they are allowed for medical reasons.) So please pray for the doctor to find and treat all that’s wrong with me and that I don’t have complications as I’ve had them in the past. Thanks! 🙂

Best wishes and a good recovery!

Praying that this surgery will work so you won’t have to have further surgery or go on birth control pills.

Praying for a successful surgery with no complications. You have been through a lot and I hope this surgery takes care of your medical issues.

Mary.

Had surgery Friday. I found the Napro surgery to be far more invasive then my previous endometriosis surgery. 5 incisions 1-2 inches each. From the time of my last surgery it had grown back and then some. I was also Had several cysts. They couldnt get it all as I have some even on my GI organs and he wasn’t qaulified to do that without GI surgeon with him. I’m so much weaker this surgery. I will know more if it helps the pain at all in the next few weeks. I will have endure this surgery every 2-3 years for the rest of my reproductive life. I’m only 33! All I know is this is the last Endometriosis surgery. Im tired and done and still in pain and will be getting a hysterectomy and ovary removal next time. I don’t think the NAPRO doctor will do it though. I will have to go to a regular GYN.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers! 🙂

I am so sorry to hear of all the problems and pain you have had to endure up to this point. I experienced similar issues, but maybe not as severe. I had severe anemia though and the last 15 years before I hit menopause were terrible. Lookng back, I wish I would have had a hysterectomy because it really altered my life. Women who have never had fibroid tumors or endometriosis have no idea how terrible it is and trying to hold a job is almost impossible. Good luck to you. I didn’t hit menopause until 55 so unless this surgery is successful or you want to go through possibly 22 years more suffering I would have a serious talk with my doctor.

I’m so sorry. 😦 This all sounds so rough on you. I hope you heal quickly, and that you find an option soon that will let you live as pain-free a life as possible!

I’m sorry you had this too. Yes my mom was in her mid fifties before her cycles stopped. It’s horrifing to think. People don’t understand the pain. There are those who are saying this would be the best time to try for a baby. While that’s true, the miscarriage risk is so high and both hubby and I are still wanting to use NFP to avoid that if possible. Then there’s those who are horrified at even the thought of someone getting a hysterectomy. I just want understanding of the pain, not people placing me back in the batter’s box for a baby. People can be so mean when they just have no clue what their saying. It’s just hard being Catholic with this condition. Thankfully my family is Protestant so a hysterectomy doesn’t phase them much.

A neighbor was able to have a vaginal hysterectomy and she was only in the hospital overnight.
It is hard not to have a miscarriage when there is so much going on with the reproductive organs.

For it to fully stop new Endometriosis from forming I’d have to get the ovaries and tubes removed too, plus find someone who’s skilled and willing to remove all the new Endometrial growths found at the time of surgery. I wish NAPRO doctor would as I like him. But I doubt a NAPRO doctor would do anything that had the side effect of permanent sterilization.

I am probably being unreasonably angry about this, but there you go.

He’s not even following Church teaching in this regard, and he’s kind of misrepresenting it, too. It’s wrong. I wonder with more than a little sarcasm whether he’d tell a woman with ovarian, uterine, or cervical cancer that she couldn’t have a hysterectomy lest she not be fertile afterwards.

Oh I’m sure he’d remove them if there was cancer or a life threatening condition. But Endometriosis isn’t life threatening, just painful and debilitating. Their treatment for endometriosis is this specialized surgey followed by a strict diet. I’m not sure how a strict diet is going prevent Estrogen from re invading me but this is what they say so will try it and hope for the best. But since some Endo was left in there, you know it won’t take long to re invade me special diet or not. My husband doesn’t want him to touch my GI organs, even with a specialist as they have to cut parts of organs out and everything. I’m just a royal mess! :o

ETA: My spiritual directors text to me after I told him about getting through surgery and how hard it was and that I might choose to go the hysterectomy route next time was “this is a good time to be open to life!” We use NFP to avoid, isn’t that being open enough to life? It’s so frustrating. I feel like my fellow Catholics are my worst enemies sometimes. 😦
