Surname change before baptism, was my baptism valid?

First of all, I’m a guy. I was raised in a non-religious home by a single divorced mother. When I was 21 I changed my last name because I was angry with my father. A few years later, I became a Christian and converted to the Catholic Church getting baptized with the name I wasn’t born with. After becoming Catholic I started to learn about what the Church teaches about honoring your father. I began to realize that changing my last name to be rebellious to my father was a big mistake. So I reconciled with my father and eventually changed my last name back. So my question is this. Was my baptism valid since I wasn’t baptized with my birth last name? If it was valid, can I just have my last name changed to my birth last name and have them send me a new baptism certificate with the name correction?

Your baptism is valid. It was you as a person who was baptized and your soul which received the indelible mark. What name was used does not affect the validity of what you received. The sacrament is not a legal document where an un-dotted i or uncrossed t will nullify the agreement. The sacrament was God’s grace touching and transforming your very being and essence.
