God bless you, Araneae7 – you are preparing the greatest gift one can give in this life and helping your sister form a new family.I am a surrogate carrying a baby (not genetically mine) for my sister. I am not doing it for money, I am doing it for love. She is a cancer survivor (30 years) and cannot carry a child because of the effects from radiation and chemo. I am Catholic. I’ve heard all sides of the issue with regard to my faith. Ultimately, I believe that Jesus’ teaching of “love one another” applies.
Sure there are all kinds of legalistic prohibitions against this – but I agree that love trumps all, and you’re giving all of your love in a very profound way.
I bore a child (my own) who was adopted by friends (a childless couple) years ago. It’s difficult to say goodbye to the baby but it’s not impossible, and I’m positive you will receive so much in return. I wish you the best through your pregnancy, delivery and the rest of your shared lives.
