WÜRZBURG, September 17, 2020 / 10:36 AM ( CNA German ).
Interest in the “reform process” is highest among people over 60 - only six percent of those with no religious affiliation are interested in the "Synodal Way"
Almost two thirds of Germans (63 percent) are not interested in the " Synodal Way ". This is the result of a representative survey by the Erfurt-based opinion research institute “INSA Consulere”, which was carried out on behalf of the Catholic weekly newspaper “Die Tagespost”.Only 11 percent of those questioned stated that they were interested in the initiative declared as a “reform process”; 17 percent don’t know how they feel about it.
However, there are confessional differences. The approval rate is still highest among Catholics , with 19 percent saying yes to the opinion research institute’s statement: “I am interested in the Catholic reform dialogue ‘Synodal Way’.”
At 53 percent, however, more than half of Catholics are not interested in the internal church discussion process. Among the Protestants , 11 percent said they were interested in the “Synodal Way”, 63 percent were not interested in it. Interest is lowest among those with no religious affiliation (6 percent).
The survey, for which 2,036 adults were surveyed between September 11 and 14, also breaks down the question according to the different age groups: According to this, interest is highest among those over 60 at 12 percent, but always still very low. In all other age groups, the value fluctuates between 9 and 11 percent.
