That is the only reason?? It is a beautiful story, and should be an inspiration for all women.

I thought that the Protestant Bible passed through the censorship of Martin Luther, and those books and excerpts did not reflect his views. :confused:
 
Around 100 AD the sanhedrin redacted the historic and didactic books. Many of their considerations were political rather than finding historical inaccuracy or theological error. For example, the books of Maccabees were excluded because they praised the Romans who before the occupation of Jerusalem had been the allies of Judea. Esther and Ruth were rejected because of depiction of inter-racial/interfaith marriage.

Despite removing these and other books as well, the history and the stories they tell still move the Judeo Christian faiths. The conservative, orthodox and hasidic jews celebrate Chanuka, Purim and other holidays and they tell the stories in the form of fairy tales so the children learn them and pass them on.

There are extra canonicals books of the Gospel as well which the Church has not included not necessarily because they are false but because there is no proof these books existed during the time of the Apostles
 
OK thank you. I remember that now. ML made some of his decisions based on what was included in the Jewish canon in his time. 👍 Not included doesn’t necessarily mean wrong.

Yeah-- I have read some of the NT apocrypha-- including Gnostic stuff. Some is as far out as the BOM. 😃

1 Maccabees was written in Hebrew. 2 Maccabees was Greek though. Most of the deuterocanonicals were Hebrew or Aramaic (which is the language of half of Daniel and part of Ezra), only Wisdom and 2 Maccabees, and possibly parts of Daniel and Esther and also the whole New Testament were written in Greek
