Tonight at 10 Eastern we have a sci-fi flick: The Monolith Monsters (1957)

Anyone know anything about it? A town attacked by giant crystals?

Actually, we own the DVD. Like many of Universal sci-fi/horror films it’s charming for what it is. The concept is original and the actors adequate to the task. If you just go with the flow and not question the premise too much, it’s a fun watch. In fact, I kid you not, we watched just last night. 😛

This flick scared the poo out of me when I was a kid. Spent most of the movie on the floor hiding my eyes:eek:

That was Lola Albright who had a decent, but not great film and TV career. She starred opposite Kirk Douglas in “Champion” and won the “Silver Bear” award at the Berlin Film Festival in 1966 for her performance in “Lord Love a Duck.” She played Poppy in “The Tender Trap” with Frank Sinatra. She got one of the best lines in the film in which she called Sinatra’s character a “stinker.” She was also a great singer who was featured in a recurring role on the TV show “Peter Gunn.” So, she did all right for herself.

I LOVE 50’s sci-fi films. They’re so straightfoward and easy to watch. I have some of my favorites from “The Creature from the Black Lagoon” to “The Thing from Another World.” Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em!
