I sometimes with accidental swears and blasphemous thoughts. Today I had an attack where I had strong urges to say God d**i. When I have these urges I usually try to turn them into prayers or compliments to God. So when I had these urges to have these thoughts, I would change them into prayers or ‘good thoughts’, and when I finally started to lose the urges to think the blasphemous thoughts, I would think ‘No, I really want to think’ and then I would think the swear. A couple times I had such bad urges I just thought the swear, sometimes without even thinking (even though I didn’t mean to insult God at all). Did I commit mortal sins by having these thoughts?

I don’t know but when I was saying the rosary all the time and regularly going to Mass. I felt strongly that the mother was leading me into the direction of not cursing. But that was me and could’ve been what I needed as that specific time. Your direct contact might be different.

It’s a great thing that when you have those urges you try to turn them into prayers. Try saying the Divine Praises whenever you have a blasphemous thought or take the Lord’s name in vain.

Blessed be God. Blessed be His Holy Name. Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man. Blessed be the Name of Jesus. Blessed be His Most Sacred Heart. Blessed be His Most Precious Blood. Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most Holy. Blessed be her Holy and Immaculate Conception. Blessed be her Glorious Assumption. Blessed be the Name of Mary, Virgin and Mother. Blessed be St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse. Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints.

Years ago when I worked for a company, I played golf with the men on Sunday.

From the first hole, these guys did nothing but cuss and swear on every shot. By the second hole I was ready to turn in and quit because it not only offended God but it was offending me as well and I had had it. I know I dare not say anything to them about they language because then they would just pour it on. So I said nothing but I was going to walk in when the thought came to me, “but if you walk in they are still going to do it and what good is that?”. And so this sent me thinking. Then I decided that I would say a prayer for forgiveness to Jesus every time they cussed.

On the back nine, about the 12th hole, I noticed they weren’t cussing any more. Or if they were they weren’t doing it around me. Yet I said nothing to them.

So Jesus did accept my appologies for them and did move them to change their behaviour.

Anyway, I say this so that maybe someone else might also appologize to Jesus and help someone to stop.

Oh, that’s a relief! I was all afraid that I’d committed a mortal sin because I’d given into these thoughts. I try so hard sometimes to resist but it’s like my mind isn’t my own all the time.

And thanks to everyone else for the nice advice and stories. 🙂
