Symbolism in Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ"

I know Mel Gibson borrowed heavily from private revelations in his depictions of the Biblical narrative for his 2004 movie “The Passion of the Christ”, but could someone tell me from whose revelations is taken this scene of a demonic beast startling Judas?

I am not 100% sure, but I thought I saw at one time that it was based on The Dolorous Passion…, based on Blessed Ann Emerich’s experiences:

That’s what I thought.

I was disappointed to see that he chose “He shall crush thy head…” instead of “She shall crush” as in the Douay Rheims in Gen. 3:15.

It was a powerful video and I cried a half box of Kleenex! It’s not the kind of movie one “enjoys”, but it’s a phenomenal visual on what could have happened.
