I have a simple question/concern; As I was looking up Saint, Angels and Archangels I came upon some diagram symbols that represent the seven archangels. I know I have read that the Church only names the three Angels, Sts Michael / Rapheal / Gabriel, so my concern is do these symbols represent another religion and not accepted by the Church or can these symbols be used in the same means that medals and statues are used. Thank you for any clarification you could offer.

Actually one more Archangel is named: Uriel. The other three usually have some variation on the names, but the four are mostly consistently named.

As for the symbols, can you give us any examples?

:knight1: Thanks alot, I am having enough problems getting going straight, don’t need to get sidetracked by trying to do right. I appreciate any and all help everyone can offer.

Getting started you might want to stick to known “true to the church and all her teachings” type of web-sites. I know there are a lot of “other” sites out there that will kinda look catholic and even sound catholic but upon further digging on what the site is all about you might find some really wacky stuff. I have found a couple like that, that I have even bookmarked because it looked good and I would decide to come back later… then coming back later saying to myself " WHAT?" and deleting the bookmark.

I guess what I’m saying is to stick to the web-sites that you know are truely Catholic and read and learn all you can. Then when looking at other sites you will have the knowledge to know the difference.
Good luck to you… and keep reading CAF!

A priest from the podcast of catholic answers live said that the church does not recognize the Archangel uriel becuse he is mentioned in a book that is not part of the canon of scripture.
