Hello all,

I maintain a website for my (ICCEC) church and would appreciate your (name removed by moderator)ut on the tagline that is currently in use for it. The tagline is:

COME HOME TO TRUTH
(I am the way, the truth, and the life. John 14:6)

[edited at request of poster]

In designing the site and the tagline, we are specifically targeting young “seekers”, and I’m trying to assess how different people react to this phrase as a major component to a church home page.

I would appreciate it if you would be willing to participate in the poll associated with this posting, or to send me (Mod note: which you can access by clicking on Stopping’s name and using the send e-mail link in her profile): your responses to the four questions below:
  1. Are you male or female?
  2. What is your age?
  3. Is your immediate reaction to the tagline positive or negative?
  4. What does the phrase evoke or connote?
Thanks in advance!

Oh really. why don’t you just state clearly that you want a bunch of Catholics to look at your non catholic page?

That wasn’t my intention at all, and in fact, I worried that might be the perception. I’ll go see if I can edit the posting and remove the link.

I can’t find a way to edit my initial post. If someone knows how to do so, would you let me know? I’ve got no problem in removing the link, but initially thought it might be useful to view the tagline in context. In actuality, I’m extremely pro-Catholicism and view the denomination that I’m in as a force of unity which is helping move separated brethren back to Holy Mother Church. So it’s definitely not about sheep stealing; I simply and sincerely desire feedback to the phrase.

Requesting grace and mercy,

Well, if you are intending to help Protestants return to Holy Mother Church, why not do it yourself by becoming Catholic and help them come into the fullness of the truth?

If you’d like to see the phrase in context, the site is:

Most definitely not Orthodox, and what’s with all the icons? This tends to be misleading that this religion is somewhat ancient.

Deception is not nice!

I look forward to the day when I can.

I am graced to be able to recieve valid sacraments, as our Bishops and Priests have valid apostolic succession, and that’s a major blessing. If it weren’t for that I’d already have joined the Church.

As it is however, God has me in this place at this time to work toward unity from -outside- the RC Church, because it provides a platform that is viewed with less negativity and scrutiny by those who oppose Catholicism (due to their lack of understanding). The anti-Catholic bias that I run into is staggering. When communicating as one who is outside the RC Church, ears and hearts are more open to the message of truth.

So I’m sort of an undercover apologetics agent.

In His service,

Had to check into what the particular smiley meant, and it turns out to be “rolleyes”.

I’ve not been active on these forums much since joining, but am pretty surprized that the few resonses to my query have been so antagonistic. I selected this particular forum under the assumption that it would be relatively friendly to someone who states outright that they are not Roman Catholic. If the rolled eyes are a sign that you don’t believe what I’m saying about being an outsider apologist, perhaps you could take a look at an article I recently wrote about Mary, objecting to the Protestant rejection of Our Lady. I won’t post the link because someone (perhaps you) will claim I’m simply trying to drive traffic, but if you’d like to put my claim to the test, you can check out some of my apologetics writing and see. Say the word and I’ll gladly pass along a few examples.
