Gospel reading today told Peter anything is OK to eat as opposed to the dietary laws of the Pharisees.

Deutoronomy 12:22
“You may eat it as the gazellle or the deer:the unclean and clean eating it alike.”

Years ago had a devout Jew live next to me - set up the booth for the feast and kept all the feasts ans festivals and it tuned me in to the realization that we Catholics are the most Jewish of the believers in God
 
You would enjoy Dr. Brant Pitre’s talks or book on the Jewish roots of the Eucharist. :o
 
Much of what we believe is rooted in the Old Testament. The two greats,
Holy Eucharist, which is the new sacrificial lamb to save, is based on the old sacrificial lamb in the Pasch.

God prepared man’s understanding over centuries so that he would recognize the mysteries of his way when the time arrived to sanctify man and save him.

There are lots of similarities coming from the Old and perfected in the New.

Jesus said that He came not to destroy the old law but to fulfill it.

Just a thought.
