My church is colorfully decorated for Christmas. So after Mass, some people took photos near the altar because that corner was beautiful. Is it proper to take photos near the altar after Mass?

As long as one is not taking photos during Mass, that should be fine. Nothing wrong with wanting to share the beauty of God’s house.

'Yes.
We use those photos on our web page and our annual calendar.

I would try to avoid going further than the altar rail, but some parishes don’t have one, so it’s harder to know. Certainly, no one should be touching the actual altar and if there is a defined space around the altar and the tabernacle, I would stay on the far side of it. However, there’s certainly nothing wrong with taking pictures in the Church. Otherwise, how could we have wedding pictures and Baptism pictures?

Yes, we take photos for the front cover of the Church bulletins & the website.
