*All Protestantism is…is an exercise in semantics. *

*Every non-Catholic Christian belief today (except for heretical beliefs), are just Catholic beliefs, with a “Protestant twist”. *

One cannot connect the “Christian dots” without connecting the “Catholic dots”!!!
Your thoughts?

As you know:

Protestants are not tweaking…they are protesting that the Catholic Church added beliefs so they are stripping away the unnecessary beliefs and getting back to the basics.

What I want to know is how the one thing a lot of them held on to was the Apostle’s Creed and when they say:

“He will come to judge the living and the DEAD”

somehow they do not think of Purgatory.

Good point… if they are dead however some Protestants believe this to be a sleeping state where they await final judgment…but are neither in heaven or purgatory… just sleeping… and waiting.

What I want to know is why Protestants think purgatory is such a bad thing? Don’t they realize that if they are being purified they will go to heaven? And really how many of us are so perfect that when we die, we are fit for the Kingdom of God? Didn’t he say that nothing impure can enter heaven? Personally I really feel sorry for the lack of hope they must have.

Actually some (maybe even most) heretical beliefs are Catholic, they are just taken too far. The idea that Christ was not God but a man (Nestorianism), is the Catholic belief of Christ’s human nature, just taken too far to exclude His divinity. The idea that Christ was God and not man (Monophysitism) is the Catholic belief of Christ’s divinity, taken too far. The idea of faith alone is the Catholic idea of salvation by faith, taken too far. The idea of double predestination is the Catholic belief of predestination taken too far. The idea of Sola Scripture is the Catholic belief of the authority and inerrancy of the Bible, taken too far.

God bless

If they are sleeping…where in the heck are they? If not Heaven, not hell…then somewhere, but where? Which defeats the belief that only Heaven and hell exist.

And when Christ descended to the dead, He went to Sheol, not Hell. Which proves there can be other “places” besides Heaven and hell outside of this world for the dead to go to.

Purgatory is the perfect example of God’s perfect mercy.

Well, they also stripped away 7 books from the bible.

Take doctrine, from Judaism, ‘tweak’ it a bit, and you’ve got -----> Christianity: http://bestsmileys.com/cool/1.gif

The one God becomes three ‘persons’ in one.

Adam’s sin becomes ‘inherited.’

The messiah, foretold in the Hebrew scriptures, becomes a God/man -
who saves us… from something that doesn’t exist – ‘original sin.’

No matter which church one looks to:

-the earliest ‘ecclesial entity’
-the group that broke off in 1054
-the group that broke off, in the 16th century
-other denominations of Christianity

…all teach the same thing:

God is triune in nature
[then one church splits off, as the earliest ecclesial entity
goes ahead and ‘defines’ the order of procession, within this trinity]
Adam’s sin becomes part of the being, of each born [original sin]
A savior is called for, to save us from this non-existant reality.

The term ‘fullness of revelation’ is employed, to ‘explain’ all of this.

Yup.
‘Tweak’ Judaic doctrine…and you’ve got Christianity. :harp:

The difference is that none of these teachings you mention directly contradict any of the teachings of Judaism. They only expand upon some of the basic dogmas in certain ways that happen to conflict with other people’s personal interpretation.

Here is the “precision” tool used by some to “tweak” Christianity -

This is what the process looks like - 😃

Jimmy isn’t it time to give this a rest my brother?? You’ve asked this question so many times already.
Hello NDfan,

I know…everybody wants to be just like them… and believe what they believe… and write the same way that they write, problem is…Everybody is different!

Can’t you accept that? Why don’t you give the, “judging Jimmy B” a rest?

I don’t have a problem with you personally, I don’t know you but you seem like a decent person. I merely disagree with you.

BTW, the last post here was meant to be funny and to illustrate a point.

Protestant, non-Catholic Christian exegesis’, which are in conflict with Catholic (Christian) Truths, are like trying to fit a “square peg into a round hole”.

You didn’t like my picture??? 😃

Besides that, if I left, what would you do? 😉

Peace 🙂
