Trade them in before you wear them? That’s fine. You won’t get to return them if you wear them, the soles will show that you wore them.

Its tacky, at best.

If you rented a room out for one night, and the renter requested a refund because they only slept in the bed once, how would you feel?

I’m going to explain again. the “return after wearing it once” was not my idea. It was my mom’s. We’re broke and I understand where she’s coming from, but the shoes weren’t really that expensive. $34. Even though they’re sparkly and gold, the heel is a decent height, I like them and I would wear them again, I have several outfits I could match them to. However, she is my mom and I do have to listen to her for about four more weeks before I’m 18. I would pay for them myself, but I’ve had to pay for several things in the past week that took a big chunk out of the money I earned over the summer. I’ve tried to explain to her it’s like lying but she’s doesn’t see it like that. She says that she asked the store and they said if the shoes hurt my feet then she could return them, and wearing heels for an hour do hurt my feet no matter what pair I get but I have three pairs from past events that I kept and still wear. I don’t know what to do.

There is a difference between putting on shoes that pinch and returning them and trying to return a pair that has been walked in, danced in, sweated in. If I were you, I’d simply decide if the shoes are important enough to cough up some of my savings to pay for them. If they are not that important, buy another pair and return sparkle shoes unworn. If they are important, pay for them yourself.

mom won’t let me because they’re all black or brown, and that won’t go with my white and gold dress apparently. I think it looks fine since no one will care about the shoes but then again my fashion sense isn’t amazing so

Well, then, I think you’ve done what you can. You’ve saved the dress, and you’ve tried to talk her into keeping the shoes. You’re a minor, and not only is she your mother, it’s her money. So it won’t be your responsibility if the shoes are returned. Try not to stress over it, and just enjoy your prom.

Or a nice pair of nude pumps, that will go with anything from jeans to a formal dress.

I actually think you can wear any color shoes with a white and gold dress. The dress is neutral.
