taking a saint's name?

I am slowlylearning more about catholicism in order to convert. I saw that when you are confirmed you take a name of a saint which inspires you, can this saint be of a different gender and make the name feminine? Like Saint Joseph to Saint Josephine? thanks, God Bless. 🙂

I could be wrong, but I think that this is OK. Many Christian names have variations or different spellings in different languages (Benedict, Benedictus, Benoit; John, Johann, Johannes, Giovane, Jean; Ann, Anne, Anna), and it is acceptable to take any form of a saint’s name–I was confirmed Tomaso d’Aquino instead of Thomas Aquinas, in honor of my Italian heritage.

So it follows that one could pick a feminine form of male saint’s name.

Hmmm…are there any masculan forms of women saints’ names?
