I was baptized catholic. I was an altar boy. I was married in the Lutheran church and belong to that church even though I don’t attend often. When I go to a catholic service can I take communion ? I’m very confused

Nope, not unless you return to the Catholic faith. This would involve several steps, including addressing the marriage situation, so you would need to speak with a Catholic priest to do so. Hope you return soon!

No, because when you receive Communion in a Catholic church, several things are happening.

One major thing (but not the only thing) is that you are making a declaration. You are saying that you believe what the Church believes about the Eucharist, and you are saying that you are in union with the Church. If one of those two things isn’t true (among other things) then you can’t receive Communion.

The issue here is with the latter element: you aren’t in union with the Church so you can’t receive Communion because, in a very real sense, you would be lying. You would be saying, “I am in communion with the Catholic Church,” but you aren’t.

The good news is that if you want to come back, you certainly can.

Excellent question. Perhaps Jesus is calling you back to commune with Him in this very intimate encounter?

And, as a Catholic, you were obligated to be married in the Catholic Church. So to receive Communion in the Catholic Church, that would have to be rectified as well.

We are waiting for you!!! Come home!!! Talk with a priest firts:thumbsup:

The Holy Spirit is calling you back home. You need to discuss this with a Priest who will be able to give you the correct guidance & direction.

As a Lutheran, Catholics have asked us very politely to not commune in their church. You will however find some poorly educated Lutherans (and perhaps some Catholics) who will claim otherwise - I urge you to do as Catholics have asked and not receive communion, as a guest in their church.

If you feel uncomfortable sitting in the pews - it some Catholic churches is it possible to cross your arms and receive a blessing from the Priest. In some Catholic churches, this custom is not done so you should ask ahead of time.

Their is no way you can receive Holy Communion, you must be Baptism into the church, than you must make you Conformation, and than the finnaly step isgetting married in a Ctholic Church.

I did have holly communion and was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church

To return to the reception of the sacraments in the Catholic Church you would need to make an appointment with your local Catholic pastor.

Confession and convalidation of your marriage would precede resumption of other sacraments such as Eucharist.
