Taking Kemper's Imitation of Christ literally

I would imagine it was continual suffering for Christ just to be in human form. How limiting He must have found it! Imagine that you were required to take on the form of an oyster, and to live within that creature’s limitations. I would go mad. Poor Jesus!

His “Imitation of Mary,” compiled from other writings after his death, show that a Kempis was also a gentle and loving soul.

Don’t worry, God will keep it interesting! I was always a bit nervous of eternity, until I saw a total eclipse of the sun. During those 110 seconds, time seemed to stop. I think that was what eternity will be like, you will always be in the present, and will have no concept of time. Seeing the eclipse really put my fears to rest.

I think that God gave me a sign the eternity would not be anything frightening after all.

God wouldn’t “reward” us with boredom, that’s for sure.

Taking Kempis’ Imitation of Christ literally , @goodcatholic , would entail leaving this forum .

I think you might be suggesting that most of us don’t come anywhere close to imitating Christ, by just posting on this forum on a regular basis?
I might agree with you except that would affect my huge fan base on here . 🙂

LOL! @goodcatholic, I don’t think anything could affect your fan base here. Your posting history is there for all to see. But I do agree with Rob: if we were truly following the Imitatione, we most likely would never have come to CAF in the first place. We’d have been far too busy with worship, prayer and adoration.

It’s a bitter pill to swallow and I bet a lot of others don’t like to hear it either. That’s why I tend to be irreverent here. We all take ourselves too seriously!
