If you think you may drop or choke on the Lord then don’t receive it. You are not required to receive Communion except at Easter (correct me someone if that’s wrong)

I have allergies BAD right now, so alot of sneezing and draining, I do not feel right taking it while like this 😦

I agree with you. Actually, if you are really that sick, you may even be excused from going to church. If you go, you will likely only make more people sick. So, why don’t you just stay home, get plenty of rest, and say your rosary? It’s the next best thing to do. God understands.

If I was coughing I’d take by hand, although if your sick then it should be okay to refrain due to health reasons. My two cents

I don’t believe you are ever required to drink the Precious Blood if you are accepting the Sacred Host, or vice versa. As long as you receive it in under one species you are receiving the whole and entire Christ.

When I went to Fatima, I wanted to do the Stations of the Cross which is near the plaza… I don’t know what trees grow there but I was sneezing the whole time, watery eyes and all… I was still sneezing when I came back for the outdoor Mass… I prayed for relief and was able to take Communion. The Lord helps the faithful! 🙏

CIC (Latin Canon Law)
Can. 920
§1. After being initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, each of the faithful is obliged to receive holy communion at least once a year.
§2. This precept must be fulfilled during the Easter season unless it is fulfilled for a just cause at another time during the year.

If you have any kind of respiratory illness, don’t drink from the cup.

If you have allergies, but nothing contagious— it’s still polite to refrain from the cup, in case people do think you’re sick. 🙂

If you are feeling unwell enough that you’re not confident in your ability to receive the Host alone, and you’re afraid it might stick in your throat— just make a spiritual communion from the pew.

I thought best to stay home. I do not want anyone to catch what ever this is…I do know i feel it getting into my chest 😦

Ah, cool. I thought it was allergies. 🙂

But yes, if it’s something contagious, or if, say, your allergies are turning into pneumonia or something— then definitely stay home and focus on getting well.

I hope you feel better! 💙
