I am currently in a good situation where I have an internship and free housing- it has been a blessing! At the end of the year, I will have to take that first “real world” step of housing/getting a job.
This is hard enough, but I am struggling with an autoimmune disorder and PTSD. I am in treatment chipping away at these so I may one day live my life. However, due to this, it severely limits my opportunities. I usually come home from work on Friday night and go straight to bed, and don’t wake up until Saturday afternoon-…only to go back to bed- that’s how burned out I am. If my internship wasn’t almost over, I’d be quitting because no job is worth my health like this.
At my current office job, I haven’t been able to get my work done because I can’t concentrate due to the combination of my physical/mental illness. My supervisor basically told me that if this were a real job, I’d be on the road to being fired- which is unlike me because I’ve always been an A student and perfectionist, but I just can’t do it anymore. It is so stressful and I just need a break. I had to accept that it’s time for a change.
I always dreamed of being an academic with 2 PhDs, but it just isn’t going to happen. I finally took a big step in applying for some manual jobs- a move that references think I am better than. It was difficult to accept my limitations, but it may be a blessing in disguise. Who knows what God has planned. I found a job- perhaps the perfect job- that meets all of my needs, and I’m actually really excited about it, now just praying that they get back to me.
Housing is something that I am particularly worried about because I have bad social anxiety/hypervigilance from PTSD and roommates will make it worse (I’ve lived alone for the past 3 years!). I grew up in an abusive home (hence the PTSD), and sharing my living space is really difficult. But I can’t afford to live on my own.
So, my intentions are for: a successful housing situations and a job that suits my needs. Money would be nice, too
Currently am exploring possibilities, so if anyone has ideas for work-from-home or low stress jobs, task-oriented jobs, I’d be more than thankful.
