Talk Radio - What/who do you listen to?

Don’t forget about the new king of talk radio, Glenn Beck!. He has a very interesting and funny show.
 
Michael Medved and Hugh Hewitt…whenever I can. Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham…occasionally. Randi Rhodes…when I want to torture myself.

I hope Rhodes gets the gravel out of her mouth someday. And by listening to her, you just doubled her audience. :cool:
 
I listen to Laura Ingraham and Rush Limbaugh daily. I used to listen to Sean Hannity alot but he gets on my nerves at times so I don’t listen as often. I am blessed to have a good Catholic Radio Station in my area, Queen of Peace Radio (WQOP 1600 A.M.), so I tune in regularly to that.🙂
 
Dennis Prager is greatness. I wish I could use his mind to talk to my liberal friends and relatives.
Locally (DFW) - Ernie and Jay Midday. Topical and funny
 
I gave up talk radio for Lent. (Best thing I ever did!)

Now that I am able to listen again I have changed to NPR in lieu of a local morning talk show and the various conservative shows with regularity, and the occasional liberal Air America broadcasts.

A staple program for me has been Coast2Coast since about 1998 when I can stay up to listen to it.

I can’t listen to Coast To Coast for long. In fact, I had never even heard of the show until I moved to where I live now; it had never been on in Baltimore. But I will admit that George and Art fill a niche. Ian Punnett just grates me.

BTW, if you ever get to hear Richard Hoagland in person . . . don’t. Trust me.

I can’t abide Savage either. I’m befuddled by how he has over 400 stations carrying him. More often than not, he seems to hate what he does and who he’s talking to. Yet people listen anyway. I don’t get it.

Maybe the Mudgies over in The Clubhouse can take a clue from him! 😃

George has outshined Art lately I think, but to be honest it’s like watching the Game Show Network instead of any cable news program. It’s mindless, and that is pretty much what I want. Nothing serious, nothing heavy, nothing that gets me worked up.

Meaning, I take things too seriously. I have a passionate position about too many things I can do little to nothing about, and that bothers me. I listen to conservative talk radio and the constant stories about illegal immigration, political correctness gone haywire… I listen to liberal radio and hear them defend with illogical passion what I do not. So I stopped listening for a while. NPR has a slant, but for the most part no one is yelling at anyone else, and it’s mostly just background noise.

C2C is mindless. Listening to people from the Northwest talk about bigfoot sightings, or UFO’s in the desert, secret cities under a large international airport (which I helped build and worked at for years- the airport, not the secret city 😃 ) I do like when they talk about new technology, wind and solar…stuff like that, but by then I am usually about asleep and miss the rest.

Hoagland is a hoot. I actually did go and listen to him once about 2 years ago. Idle curiosity sent me because it was near, I was off work, and it was free. He was even less impressive in person than on the radio. On the radio he gave me a few laughs, but in person it sounded even more hollow. I forget the premis of the talk, but it turned out to be different than advertised. Turned out it was mostly a petition drive to stop nuclear weapons in space becasue the aliens didn’t want us too, and they were getting mad at us humans for planning to weaponize space.

I take C2C about as serious as I take a Mormon or a JW. I listen, but I’m not buying.

I agree. I listened to him years ago, but I grew to dislike his show. When people talk about “hate radio,” Savage, Rhodes, Janeane Garofalo, and Mike Malloy (sp?) all come to mind. They seem to be the most shrill and/or nasty to people.

What’s funny is I usually hear people using that term to describe Rush Limbaugh. I listen to Rush occasionally, and I have never heard him use anywhere near the sort of hatred that those others employ. He does ridicule and use names like “femminazi” or “Dingy Harry” (Reid) but that isn’t hate in my book. The only reason I’m not a regular listener is that he is primarily a monologue. My favorites (Medved and Hewitt) tend to engage in dialogue with more people.
 
I am really surprised I didn’t see one person include “This American Life” on NPR. I LOVE this show. I listen to this and "The Journey Home on EWTN weekly. They are on my podcast lineup and I always love checking in on my itunes to see if I have a new installment. I cannot stand Savage Hannity Ingram. Like listening to nails on Chalk board.

Punnett, heh. No longer in Chicago on WGN and certainly not missed by me.

Now, if anyone ever used to listen to Don Voegel in the days before he died… THERE was a real radio talent!

I love In Your Faith, with host Michael Voris. He cuts to the chase, and is always easy to understand. He never talks over the heads of his listeners, and is just plain entertaining.

Michael Voris is awesome!!!

I also highly recommend this radio show. I just started listening to the podcasts from feb to apr.

I wish all Catholics could have hear the last 8 minutes of the first hour of the March 25, 2007 broadcast. Preach it my brother!!!
