Talked to a minor from this forum

This person who was 17 and was a female claimed she got banned from the forums. Well I believed her at the time. But now I’m suspicious. We started talking about all sorts of things and Catholic related, school related. I made the mistake in asking for her cell number. Stupid move!!! She said, “Are you sure you sent this to the right person.” I said, “Look I don’t think it’s appropriate we talk to each other anymore” So then I put her on block so she can’t email me anymore. This is a warning to minors on here, If you are under 18 don’t talk me!
 
Yep, there’s no reason not to be careful, particularly at this time of the morning.

She didn’t talk to you here, right, because if she was banned, then she had no functions in CAF threads. If she had a way to communicate with you through CAF after being banned, something was wrong. I’d also take the precaution of informing the mods.

Do whatever you feel is appropriate for the situation. I just didn’t understand the problem. Now I do.

My email adress is displayed in my profile and I’ve been added by three people, one in Pakistan, one in Nigeria and one in Eastern Europe. But they’re all pretty decent people so it didn’t bother me. If they were from outside of America it’s more than likely they are not ‘minors’ at the age of 17. If however you think that ‘she’ (you never know) was looking for a sexual relationship, then its likely she lives in America and so, in the interests of decency (and the law) you were right to block her.

It didn’t appear from the emails she was looking for sexual relationships. She never mentioned it. I swear to you I didn’t send anything sexual. No never, in a million years.

Well the fact that you’re telling us on a publicly viewable forum that you’re worried about it leads me to believe you. Well, if you want to unblock her do so, but if the matter of sex does come up, its time to stop talking, and make it clear that that is not what you are interested in.

Did I do anything wrong here? Am I putting myself at risk by unblocking her?

What by talking to her? I don’t think you did anything wrong, legally…well I’m not familiar at all with American law but I wouldn’t think so. Remember the beauty of the block button. If anything happens block her again, but this time delete the email address to remove temptation completely. If you feel that you would be at risk then it would be best not to unblock her.

I just emailed her and asked her how she was able to contact me even though she was banned. And if she doesn’t answer that then I will re block her.

Well, your email address is viewable on your profile. Is it possible she added you before being banned?
 
Waitaminute, have you met her in real life? Or just on the net?

If only internet…well, as they’re likely a 50yrold man, I’m sure he’s very nice. Maybe you should get together for a burger! As the saying goes ‘the odds are good, but the goods…are odd.’ 😛

Very possible yes. This person may be a police officer trying to get me to commit pederasty. Which I haven’t.

I doubt it. Very unlikely he/she is a good person.
 
Well no worries then, you haven’t had a sexually explicit conversation with her (him?) and if you never speak with them again theres no danger of it either.
