I was not sexual before marriage. I practiced abstinence. some people think the big deal is abstaining from sex. But I practiced abstinence for lots of important reasons. I gained much more than I gave up.

For the young people here, who are weighing the merits of abstinence, I thought it would be good for us to have a thread talking about what we REALLY abstained from…

I abstained from teen pregnancy.
I abstainded from STDs
I abstainded from abortion
I abstained from sneaking around for a place to “do it”
I abstained from not being able to look my parents, and others who held me accountable in the face
I abstained from the pressure and responsibility of being sexual
I abstained from wondering if “he was using me”
