Talking about Hell.

I’ve been thinking more and more lately about Hell. I came across a book called 23 minutes in hell. And I watched several YouTube clips about NDEs of hell.

It really scares me to think of losing anyone I have loved to hell, let alone myself.

I think there should be a health alert about it. No kidding aside. We tell people smoking can cause cancer, but do we advertise about how sins can lead to Hell?

As Catholic do we talk enough about hell to our friends, co-workers, and loved ones?

As Catholics, we do talk about Hell; however, in my opinion, I would prefer to talk about God’s mercy and love first. I hope all of us, me and you, would love God not because of Hell.

We do need a mix…Father Corapi has done a great job talking about hell and the spiritual warfare at hand.

The subject of Hell needs to be dusted off and brought out into awareness. It’s been a topic that no one wanted to address for a long time.

The children at Fatima were shown a brief view of Hell and were terrified.

Other accounts from people who have had near-death experiences all seem to describe similar images. Demons looking animal-like and yet with a human trait and filled with malice.

The world is going through an abandonment of God and not seen is what replaces Him. If we had special eyeglasses that enable us to see the Netherworld…we would all walk the “straight-and-narrow.”

I warn my family about it often, not so much anyone else. It is brought up in homilies at my church at the approapriate times. You mention NDE’s about hell. I believe I had a negative NDE in my 13th week of chemo, but I’m not sure it wasn’t the painkillers I was on. It was only the begining of something terrible I was falling into. It was not going to stop getting worse. There is no end to the suffering in hell, it’s infinate.

This is definitely one subject that has been neglected as of late. It seems to me that a New Age mentality is starting to, or already has, affect our culture in the fact that people are losing site of what the Last Things really are. As Catholics, we are meant to spread the fullness of truth, even the parts that aren’t very cozy.

When I was involved in the New Age, I was told that there was no Hell. That we all just went to the afterlife to examine what went right and what went wrong, and to decide whether or not to come back and try it all again (reincarnation).

Too many people have let this idea permeate their own lives, even if they are Christian! Hell is some far off concept that a loving God would never really send anyone to. Or it doesn’t even exist.

But this is exactly what the Evil One wants! To believe that Hell and himself do not even exist! But as Catholics, we have a duty to spread God’s word, the comfortable and uncomfortable parts of it.

Sure, there is a time and a place for every subject, but people must be brought to realize again that Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory are REAL places! Just like I can’t make San Francisco disappear by believing it is not there, our society can not do the same with these essential truths…

Boy, if THAT doesn’t hit the nail on the head.:yup: Can’t remember the last time I heard anything substantial from the pulpit on SIN and the need for reconciliation let alone HELL! Can’t make up my mind if they are afraid to broach it or if they have fallen too much into new age thinking themselves or may be a combination?

Regardless, it needs to be expounded upon just a tad.:yup:

How often do we hear, “If God is so loving then why did he make Hell?”

That is precisely the basic argument to “eradicate” Hell and free up everyone to sin without consequence.
