Talking to a Medium / psychic

Please don’t give in to this temptation and it is indeed a temptation. In the Catholic catechism you will find that we are instructed to avoid this sort of thing for good reason. Usually it starts off as a seemingly innocent way to contact a loved one but from there it can progress to more and more temptations(psychics, astrology, buying new age books etc). I have family members who did this and unknowingly set themselves up to go down a bad path. It is very easy to get taken in by these activities but ultimately it will hurt you and offend God because it implies a lack of faith and trust in Him. Most of these mediums are just very talented at telling you what you want to hear. They make a living doing this.
If you really want to help your father just pray for him. Pray for him at a Eucharistic adoration chapel and ask him to pray for you. Be wise.
