I am hope to get some help from Talmud.

I know that the question is huge and broad, but here goes.

How does Talmud understand the four rivers (or one River with four parts) of Genesis 2?

I have many more questions, but that is a start.

Hmm… that’s a toughie. I can tell you what I learned after reading your post.

The Zohar, which is not part of the Talmud, teaches that the Tree of Life in the middle of the Garden of Eden, stands over all the waters of Creation. That as the waters flow past the Tree, they divide into many rivers, “for all the living creatures of the field to drink.”

The Tree of knowledge of good and evil, drinks from both sides of the waters of creation. That is from the waters as the flow to the Tree of Life and the waters as they flow from the Tree of life. Like sucking from the sweet and the bitter. It knows both and calls them good and bad.
“The trees of YHVH drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon which He planted.” “God makes springs gush forth in streams, moving between the hills, for all the living creatures to drink, for the wild donkeys to slake their thirst…” (Psalm 104).
The mystic/Zohar says the ceders of Lebanon represent the 6 days of creation.
