TAN publishes several titles by Belloc.
I would say that 95% of what TAN publishes is superb.
5% of it is reactionary and radical, and the titles give away the contents where those are concerned.
So, on the whole, I heartily recommend TAN Books and Publishers.

TAM’s latest catelog arrived today… they are again offering the hard cover of Divine Intimacy by Fr. Gabriel.

If you order by May 15th, it is $40 instead of $48… a much better deal, and a much better apearance than the 4-vol set offered by Igatius (4 x $17)

I’ve gotten many things from TAN over the years, some great, some not so great. But the only thing that I ever bought from them that was so horrible I threw it away rather than letting it get into someone else’s hands was a book on Martin Luther that made him out to be almost worse than the devil himself.

As far as publishing companies go, I would trust anything from Sophia Institute Press.

Roman Catholic Books also has a lot of good stuff.

No matter how reliable the place you buy your reading material is, you still have to read with a discriminating mind.

A question for those of you who have read Divine Intimacy: Is it worth the $40? I wanted to get it when it was only 30, but was afraid to spend that much money on a book unseen.

Are these guys a reliable source for continuing Catholic education?
Overall, they publish excellent titles, but every book of theirs cannot be universally recommended. For education, the history book by Fr. Laux is good.

I have several books from TAN, I personally really like them:thumbsup:

I got my Douay from them. Superb! Much better than the New Atheist Bible.

The books that I have purchased from them have enriched the faith of my family.
I highly recommend ‘The Soul Sanctified’ and ‘Begone Satan’.

I like Tan Books. They have a good selection of obscure books that are not printed anywhere else. Sure, there are a few books that might be a bit questionable but that’s fine. I haven’t seen anything that is truly sedevacante.

Can someone shed some insight on Tan Books? They are a publisher out of Rockford, IL.
I’ve been impressed with their catalog of Catholic books such as Christian Perfection and Contemplation by Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange and True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis DeMontfort. But troubled by other titles that make the accusation that Vatican II was bad for the Church?

Always Hopeful, I have purchased many titles from TAN, both through their on-line store and through my wonderful local Catholic bookstore that carries many of their titles. I loved Christian Perfection and Contemplation. Some of my favorites:

Holy Abandonment (Rev. Lehodey)
Growth in Holiness (Fr. Faber)
Dolorous Passion of Jesus Christ (Sr. Emmerich)
Providence and Our Saviour and His Love For Us (Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange)
How to be Happy, How to be Holy (Fr. O’Sullivan)

As has been stated earlier in this thread, you do have to read everything with a discerning eye.

I have also bought some excellent books from Angelus Press, but I wouldn’t necessarily purchase and read everything they publish.
