Two days ago my laptop got cranked. I tried to fix it but to no avail. I had my important files in it…and it’s like…My life is in there. I was somehow feeling, I was displeasing God of some sort and not doing His will. Then on the third day, I did something for my neighbor that really moved me.I wasn’t intending to do it that day but I did.quite helped them…and lo and behold when I opened my laptop it was all fixed. I got my files and desktop back without doing anything. Months before my pre-conversion a similar thing happened-----my laptop got cranked–it was dead, my cellphone got destroyed, my files were lost…I also lost some memorable friendships as well. And when I did the will of God, I was better…
Anyhow, did something similar happened to you?
I can’t think of anything right now, although I will tell one story, which I’ve told before.
In the meantime, I think you’d better start making backups of your files. God’s not going to keep resuscitating your crashed laptop for you every time you help a little old lady across the street.
My story - years ago I was involved with leading a “youth group”. One night the leaders organised a party for them in a workshop owned by the one of the leaders.
The next day I got a phone call from one of the girls’ mothers to say her daughter had lost a ring at the party, and that it had sentimental value. Apparently she’d lost it outside the workshop, so I wouldn’t need to organise a key to get in.
So I went and picked this kid up, and we went down to the workshop. She explained she’d been waving her hands around as she talked, and it flew off her finger.
Now we were standing on the footpath. On one side was the road, borderd by a gravel kerb where cars would park. On the other side was grass about three feet high. If it had gone in there, we would never find it.
We had a look around the road, footpath and nearby and found nothing.
So then she had the bright idea that if she waved her hands around and loosened another ring, it might go where the first ring went.
For my part I was convinced she was going to lose two rings, and tried to dissuade her from doing so. But she insisted and away she went.
I didn’t even see the ring go, but she did. It flew across the roadway and landed somewhere in the gravel on the other side. So we walked across, and started searching.
But just as she “tossed” the second ring, I had this funny sensation of time standing still just for a split second, and a sense that “I’m going to pull a swifty, and you won’t see it happen”. I still remember that.
Then she said “Here it is”, and picked up the ring she’d just “tossed”. But as she did so, I happened to see the ring she’d lost the night before no more than six inches away from the one she was picking up.
Now the odds against that were astronomical. As I said, I thought I’d be talking to her mother sans two rings, not one.
As it turned out, I was able to witness to her mother as a result. I don’t know if anything came of it, but I think God had a bit of a role in the way the second ring landed so close to the ring she’d lost the night before. By all the odds she should have lost both rings, not one. It was just the way I had this funny sensation of time standing still, or whatever just as she “tossed” the second ring.
