Ah, I see now our point of confusion. Your perspective seems much more influenced by a spiritual warfare mindset whereas mine…well…isn’t.

Not to try to spark a new debate. It just helps me clarify our past discussion to see now where your perspective was coming from. Your view seems to have a lot more activity in the spiritual plane than what I’m likely to acknowledge.

And your word of caution is duly noted and accepted with the brotherly love we owe each other as children of God.

The bible tells us that God is a very jealous God.

The bible tells us the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth.

When you go to any other guide you are going to a false God.

Tarot cards are not the Holy Spirit, None of these Spiritual advisers are the Holy SPirit. If you want help from the Holy Spirit you can only achieve it from prayer and Church. If you want the Holy Spirit to guide you attend the Church which is the Living Christ. The Holy Spirit is there to guide. Receive the Holy Spirit in the form of the Eucharist the living Christ. That is here to guide you.

God works through his Church. If you want advice or the truth turn to the Truth.

The CHURCH IS THE PILAR OF ALL TRUTH, nothing else.
 
There is no universal truth in a deck of tarot cards, and they have absolutely no value. No Catholic home should have them in it.

This thread has no relation to Traditional Catholicism either. And it’s an old thread. Why was it brought back to the top ?

I try to tell her that this stuff is ruining me, and affecting me even when she does it when I am not there.
I try to tell her that these things are evil. And BTW don’t try to argue me away from my Job. The lord has placed me around the lost and the sick, and I bless them all. Even when I have to sell a book on the occult.

I know you probably do not want to hear this but you need to find another job and possibly a new girlfriend. She seems to be not only open to demonic influence but actually relying on it. Do you think if you decide to marry her the tarot cards will say its ok? and if they did what good would come from it. To me this seems like saying my grilfriend is a stripper or a prostitute and I want her to stop, I can change her, it seems she has already chose her path. I know people can and do change, maybe I am not as strong a catholic as you but I feel this is a job and a relationship that could do nothing positive for you and quite possibly could bring you down in many ways.

this is actually the first time I have EVER posted in a forum. I was just in another forum where a bunch of pseudo catholics were defending tarot card reading etc. I don’t want to sound arrogant or bigoted but stay as far away from any occult as possible. There are NO SUCH things as ‘good witches’. witchcraft is witchcraft and diabolical PERIOD! Whether it is wicca or any other type. I myself have been under minor demonic possession before and have had to have numerous exorcisms done on me. Now I am free but I pray THREE prayers that have helped me so much. One is called “the Exorcism Prayer of Pope Leo XIII”, the other “Breaking the Bondage of a Curse” and the third “Spiritual Warfare”. I am posting because in the Warfare prayer it lists all things that we are binding and casting out. Here is just a short clip…

channelers; charters; clairvoyants; crystal healers; crystals; fortune tellers; mediums; the

I cannot convey with enough gravity how powerful and dangerous messing with demonic stuff can be. And I never messed with the stuff in the first place but it was more that there were curses on me and my family. From the movie ‘the Rite’ with Anthony Hopkins, he says to the young whipper snapper who didn’t believe in anything…he said (paraphrasing) “The devil doesn’t care whether you believe in him or not he can still attack you”.

Tarot cards are not in and of themselves occult. They were originally made as a card game.
 
Would it be against my religion to use tarot cards as playing cards
(I’ve done a lot of research and tarot was originally used in a card game that would be similar to bridge)

(the card game has been around for about 400 years longer than the occult use for tarot)

Yes, it is a mortal sin:eek: It truly is. It is actually breaking one of the ten commandments, believe it or not. Thy shall not put any false gods before thee.

Now you are thinking oh no! I am not doing that.

Actually you are. What you are doing is pretty much asking another power to answer you questions in using cards.

Bottom line if God wants you to know something Trust me, He will let you know his way.

Yes. He asked whether it was OK to use them as playing cards, considering that’s what they were originally designed as.

It may lead one to sin, if one has any “curiosity” about any occult use like cartomancy. Me, I have a deck or two, mixed in with my rather extensive collection of playing cards. One or two are reproductions of Victorian-era “gypsy fortune-telling cards”, and one is all art deco.

No, I don’t use them for predictions or anything, since I don’t believe anything can actually tell the future anyway.
