That is true for some very old tattoos which may have contained some iron. Not true of modern tattoos.
 
I have six in total. Three are religious - a fish, chi-ro, and alpha omega. The three religious tattoos have offered me several opportunities to witness, especially the Chi-ro. Most people are unfamiliar with that sign and want to know the significance behind it. Plus, I like the fact that people know that I belong to God. I have marked my body with his sign to say that I belong to Him.

I say give your glory to God and if you feel a tattoo can help you glorify Him and His kingdom than go for it.
 
If you’re thinking about getting a tattoo, get the idea drawn up and printed off. Then look at it every single day for a month straight. I mean really, REALLY look at it. If you still like it, go for it. Go to a reputible, clean shop with a good safety record, and pay attention to the aftercare instructions.
 
I currently have 4 tattoos - I got the last one in 2007, before I joined the Traditional Catholic Church. I have 2 roses, and 2 hearts (one being the Sacred Heart). My tattoos are not vulgar nor flashy. They have very special meaning and they are not just for decoration.
 
I have some religious tattoos. They are a sign of commitment and belief for me. I have them where only I can see them, and they serve their purpose.
 
What verse in Leviticus is everybody referring to?

I just read Isaiah 44:5 in which God is speaking about the enthusiasm of the Israelites and, in this verse, [in the Jewish translation] it says that one will even put a permanent mark on their arm [elsewhere usually translated hand] “I am the Lord’s” ( la YHVH ani )

The implication is that one will put a mark similar to a mark that would be put on a bondservant to indicate that they were a slave of somebody.

This anticipates James 1:1 “James, a [bond]servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ”

I’ve never considered getting a tattoo before now. Hmmm. $50 ? pain? I’m diabetic. maybe not.
