I’m planning on one tatoo: since I can’t wear my wedding ring (I get a violent rash under any jewelry), I’m going to have it tatooed on.
I would not tattoo for this reason alone. if you are being married through the church the ring on your finger is always present by faith alone… once you are married through the church you are married in front of god…back in the day when god and christ was outlawed they wore a scarfe. then it was a goude. if you marry and it is right with god you and you alone will bare the ring whether anyone sees it or not.

I have many tattoos including a Sacred Heart. That is my favourite one, which I got after coming back to the Church after being away for 5 years. If I get any more, they will be religious symbols.
be carefull. there is a small difference between faithfull and desicration

Tatoos are so permanent. I am a work in progress.
Don’t want to label myself as stuck at any stage.
be carefull about judging your brother, what you may see as stuck maybe what god sees as progress.

I am a woman with tattoos. Alot of tattoos. My left arm is half sleeved. I do not have ‘self acceptance or self identification issues’ as far as I am aware either. I am merely decorating my body in much the same way as people apply make up or wear jewelry. I personally find it attractive and feminine.
I would like to thank the person who pointed out that God is more concerned with the inward than the outward. Few of us are exactly as God made us…carry an extra pound or two? Colour your hair?
I actually feel this is almost too simplistic to debate. After all surely we don’t judge on appearances? I am exactly the same person internally with tattoos as I was when I had none. Anyway, I also respect the fact that tattoos are not for everyone but then neither are skinny jeans or purple hair. It’s all just a matter of personal choice. Thankfully the New Covenant has allowed us to make those choices. Thankyou Jesus.🙂
I am concerned about what you mean as the same inward as well as outward… a catholic and a practicing catholic are two different things. thy shall not scare one self… if at any given time you had a tattoo done for less than favorable in the lords eyes then you shall answer. god loves your body but if you wanted for lust or greed on your body then that needs to be attoned for as well as understood.

Why is a female having a tattoo on her lower back considered sinful (in your eyes)?
I can understand the view of a tattoo being sinful of another. when we get a tattoo that brings an eye of another to bring into temptation that is the sin… well covered or well thought out the difference is trend and self expression. try being a catholic in the outward and then you can think about the catholic in others.

a provocative tattoo isn’t provocative if everyone does it…in respect if everyone is okay with porn does porn stop being offensicve to the lord

I don’t know about nationally, but at least in my neck of the woods, CUF is fronted with schismatics and persons advocating heresy. (Some sede vaticanists, some anti-magisterium, quite a few anti-V-II.)

I wouldn’t accept them as a firm answer.

Especially since searching for tattoo on Vatican.va turned up little other than biblical quotes.

One item in:
SYNODUS EPISCOPORUM
SPECIAL ASSEMBLY FOR AFRICA
OF THE SYNOD OF BISHOPS
10 April-8 May 1994

mentions them as traditional communication.
mind yourself about heresy…one mans heresy was at a time another mans faith…faith is a psycholygy the best phsycoligist you will ever know is the one in your own mind…psych 101…you will hear god if you ask, quick question when was the last time you listened

It’s been over a year since anyone posted on this thread. Someone is obviously looking for a debate. So I’m un-subscribing now. 😉

…why anyone would want to put graffitti on a work that God created is a mystery to me… i guess if you don’t see your body as a work of God, then it really doesn’t matter…

Peace:thumbsup:
The body is the work of god! when we leave this earth the body is a vessal, intense pain or repuration is okay with our god, si in fact when the devil shall make his mark on money and the christian shall be hunted, a branding of faith will be a choice , in the bible it states we shall not mutilate our body, or have markings of our own, paraphrasing of course, we brand ourself of god by title and as well as what used to be taboo ornaments, the cross (why is it we we have gold as opposed to a scapulet CLOTHE.) it isn’t what we do it is how we do it.

I leave you with this thought… when you see a person with need…money let them know I have borrowed money from my brother or sister and I am returning it…when you see someone cold,… say I am returning my brother or sisters jacket because I never owned it,…when we conqure these appitites then we can judge the markings of a faithful.

I respect that you are hopefully trying to find another active catholic talk forum… it starts within yourself and ends ther as well…outs are a plenty a good father, monk, sister,…or even a fallen brother or sister… listen to there story and guide them,… much like you want to be found and heard so shall your brother. giving is the best way to receive

I am concerned about the linear as opposed to abstract thinking of catholics. if you would have god in your life first last and always what would be the trouble… if you are in crossing of god then just be a good person, do right, correct the wrong, bless others with your foregivings, i.e. be a good human it starts there.

love one another, (hippie, tree hugger, passive,…) whatever… love yourself protect yourself give to yourself change yourself because yourself just might be someones else

Personally, being in the medical profession, my greatest concern is the possibility of contracting hepatitis from tattoos…Why put yourself at unnecessary risk. As far as children getting them…why not just try the temporary ones that wash off in a week. That is it!
why is there a possibility of contracting hepatitis, if the shop is legit, they wrap everything up in protective covering and change it after every customer. also the needles are packaged changed after every person.

also i’ve read a few people saying that because people get tattoos they do not care that christ made their body. How do you figure that?
