Only the bible mention that in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, I haven’t found any Tea Party references.
Wrong, the people of Sodom and the people of Gamorrah were condemned because they were inhospitable and envied their neighbors. Anyone who bothered to read those stories would know this.

First of all, don’t attack my opinion if you are incapable of using proper grammer. Second of all, I have talked to members of the Tea Party.
Wow, this is really getting out of hand here. Your opinion is obviously your opinion; however, it is not based on fact nor on the constitution.

I must say that your first sentence is a little snippy.

I only state my opinion if it is based on fact. A professor in a history class that I took administered the US Citizenship test to his students and I passed it. So please don’t say that I don’t understand fact or the constitution, it is simply untrue.

Oh for crying out loud. Supporting the general welfare does not mean the government will take care of everybody. First they have no resources and produce nothing. Second the only way they can give is to take away from somethone else. Someday the folks that produce the goods that the government takes, will tire of their efforts and then the government will have nothing to give.

The constitution is not written to justify social security, medicare, welfare, unemployment benefits and insure that everyone has an education and food in their belly. It is to make sure everyone has the opportunity to make for themselves what ever it is they desire to make of themselves.
This attitude is based on the here and now, and has no basis in truth.

It is obvious that either I can not communicate clearly or you do not wish to hear what I am saying here. We help those who truly and honestly need our help…case closed.
The Tea Party movement is about getting rid of social programs…the underlying agenda is to cut taxes (hence the name)

This is a very poor exegesis. It is about sexual immorality. ANyone who would bother to read the accounts would know this.

What does it mean? If not to see to the well-being of the citizenry, what does “promote the general welfare mean”?

Understood.

The states are broke and will continue to decline until all of the spending is cut. The states can not feed/educate, etc. the entire population. Schools are overcrowded…hospitals are going under. Where does it all stop? In theory, it would be wonderful if we could take care of every single one of God’s children, but show me how that can be done? I do not want to see this country accept socialism. It is not the answer…even the Pope agrees with that statement.

DO you net see that this is inherently based on greed, rather than compassion. This lack of compassion will be the ruination of the United States. Socialism in and of itself is not condemned. What is condemned is the totalitarian governments which have falsely identified themselves as socialist. In reality the way “socialism” has been expressed has not been true socialism, but state-sponsored capitalism. The plight of the working class did not change. All that changed was who was exploiting them.

I strongly disagree with your statement, with all due respect. The United States of America is by far the most generous nation in the world…hands down!

Isn’t this a political discussion?

If not, I’ll carry on.

Methinks the OP has a definite agenda on her mind. What it is besides bashing a particular political party, I don’t know.

The notion that the Almighty destroyed two cities because the inhabitants were “inhospitable” is eisagesis to the extreme.

Furthermore, “The Tea Party does not believe that I deserve to live.” Are you suggesting, in a roundabout way that because you are homosexual that the Tea Party’s official position is that you be killed?

Surely you cannot be serious.

Wrong, Vatican City is the most generous nation in the world. More money has been donated to charity by the Roman Catholic Church than any other corporation or nation in the world.

No, this is not a political discussion. I am addressing concerns that I have about the Tea Party and their disregard for social justice.

Also, I am not homosexual, please do not make assumptions that are not true.

Since you have been very vague about your “condition” I wasn’t sure. And it was a question, not an assumption.

Methinks this is getting too contentious.

Toodles.

INCORRECT!

It is obvious here, that I am banging my head against my computer here. I will leave any further thoughts for others to share. In closing, I am very proud to be an American citizen and I am concerned about this country as well. I understand numbers very, very well and know fully that we can not continue to spend spend and spend more without anything coming through on the credit side of the ledger. It does not compute. I

God be with each and every one of you and may His holy name be praised forever!!

“We the people, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United Sates of America”

Here ii is in the Constitution. One of the reasons for establishing the Constitution was to “promote the general welfare”.
Agreed, one of the stated purposes was the general welfare.

But you are going to have to look at the Constitution itself and not just an introduction to see what these people had in mind to promote this ideal.

I can find nowhere in the Constitution that provides for health care provided by the state.
I also can find nowhere in the Constitution welfare paid for by taxpayers.
For that matter I also am having difficulty locating unemployment benefits in this document as well.

I have found the Tea Party is not based on selfish desires, but upon a real concern for freedom and liberty.
