It’s only Catholic if done under the auspice of Catholic worship. I do not believe a prostating in a mosque “in the spirit of Islam” qualifies.
👍👍

had to give a double thumbs up … this is one of the problems with Catholic schools today, at least here in Canada … the “spirit” of VII has been misinterpreted way beyond what I believe the Council Fathers intended.

it is instances like these that cause me to be sympathetic to SSPX, although I believe they can do more fully within the Church than in the current situation

I have lived this with my children…all came up through the Catholic school system…and absence of nuns and priests though…they were basically taught that all religions are equal and have a chance to go to heaven…so Dad has to be the stubborn one and argue the point…but I do not have a bunch of letters behind my name and am not a chaplain so I don’t understand…they are adults and consider themselves Catholic, but are not actively practicing…they know the tenets, they can quote much scripture, and actually if they went to Church they would be outstanding Catholics…all seeds sewn in the younger years through this creeping in in Catholic school…is this the “smoke of satan”?

too many of these children are taught the easy going lifestyle and freedom of conscience…they are told it is important to be a good person, but if you try the externals won’t be important…God will understand…

sadly it all starts with “innocent” field trips like this … and all in the name of respect and tolerance

Are you aware that prostrations are done during prayer and liturgies in the Easter Catholic traditions?
Yes. Perhaps these Catholic school children could prostrate themselves in an Eastern Catholic church rather then be so open to a faith that desires nothing but to extinguish the Faith in France. In the meantime, I’ll wait for the post that entails Muslim school children visiting a Catholic parish. In the end, no wonder Mass attendance in France is only five percent of the Roman Catholic majority.

It might be a good idea to teach these girls to bow down and prostrate towards Jerusalem since this practice is indeed mentioned in the Bible.

I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. … (Psalm 138:2)

On a note of caution however, bowing down and prostrating towards graven images is most definitely NOT taught in the Bible.
It’s not the action I think we are concerned about. It’s the fact that they are learning it in a mosque. It would be like me learning how to pray, but going to a bud-hist instructor to learn.

In the second image, they are bowing to the Altar and I am guessing the Blessed Sacrament.

Why are we to pray like a prophet. Did Jesus not teach us how to pray?

I prostrate three times after receiving Holy Communion in the back of the Parish facing East.

Exactly. Teaching children how others pray…even showing them to mimic the actions isn’t wrong. Afterall, Islam is well understood to be one of the religions of Abraham.
Yes it can be wrong, it depend what is taught but it can be wrong. Just because something it suppose to be religious does not make it automatically innocent. Teaching childern about chakras is wrong, and teaching children to bow to a moon god is just as wrong. Abraham didn’t start religions (Christianity or Judaism) and neither did he start islam so it doesn’t make sense that it should be considered a religion of Abraham.

I think this is an excellent educational exercise (oh, the alliteration) in religious tolerance and these girls will get along better in the world for this experience.

Personally, I make a habit of visiting houses of worship other than my own to inform my own faith. I would jump at the chance to attend a service at a mosque if I knew a Muslim to take me and walk me through it.

I will pray like the Lord taught us to. I will engage in the Prayer “The Our Father”. I don’t understand why their is reserved time slot for Friday prayers in advent. Why Friday? Why a specific time? If God is with us all the time.

MY ERROR - “Their” is incorrect- SHOULD BE “There”.

If only our children were given a Catholic education these days… but at least we can sleep easy at night knowing they are getting a thorough grounding in every other man-made religion of Tom, Dick and Harry…

Guys?

You’re reacting to a few lines and a couple of photos that are simply inflamatory and unexplained.

I’m not going to assume what is going on here. NO ONE should.

This is as bad as gossip serves no purpose except to upset everyone and invite hate into our hearts.

Then to go attacking JPII. … Really? Cast stones much?

:rotfl:That is not even the right Islamic bowing…

Anyway, I assume those kids were playing, and they don’t really know what they were doing…

However, I think it’s a mistake of their teachers in the first place whom agreed that they practise some Islamic rituals, studying and knowing Islam is something, but practising the rituals is completely something else…

This is blasphemy. If it was left up to me, there wouldn’t be Muslims there in the first place.

I think the reason for mention the Pope is because he started all this. but i know that the pope can do it because he knows how to do it. while lay Catholics without the proper knowledge decide to follow the example of the pope and simply are adopting to other religions instead of acquire the knowledge that the purpose is to convert others into our Faith and not the other way around.

Soaking in the “spirit of Islam”? There is only one being that would deny the crucifixion of Christ.

I sure hope these children are also being taught about the immoral characteristics of the Islamic allah, the inequalities of people in Islam, the hate and violence allah asks Muslims to act out against all non-muslims for all times, etc.

Are they being taught that Mohammad was a self propclaimed prophet? While the authors of the Bible have many eyewitnesses, prophecies and miracles to back them up Mohammad has nothing.

Do they now know that the only way a Muslim knows for sure he will go to paradise is if he fights and kills for allah.

My children learned about all the major religions in their Lutheran School and why Christianity is the religion to follow.

And I would hope they would teach the truth regardless of whether it would offend certain people and regardless of how ‘ugly’ or ‘unpopular’ that truth may be.
