Teaching children on Eucharist

How I can I teach a 7 year old in an understandable term the concept of transubstantiation of the Eucharist into God’s Body,Blood,Soul,and Divinity?

any analogies that I could use?

bread and wine —> priest consecrates —> Holy Spirit ----> miracle -----> Body and Blood.

Transubstantiation and a whole big explanation is not necessary at the 7 year old level.

The bread and wine become the Body and Blood— the substance (what it is) changes while the accidents (what it looks and tastes like) stay the same. How? God performs a miracle through the power of the Holy Spirit and the priest when he says the words of consecration.

I would say that since it would be a bit gross for Jesus to give us his actual blood and flesh to make it more appealing he turns it into them through the presit but still under the apperence of bread and wine so it’s nicer for us to enjoy and say imagine your at mass right before the transubstatation takes place and that god gave you some “magic” glasses and if your not wearing them you see what we as humans see and when you put them on you see what god sees so when the preist hold up the chalice you see the Holy Spirit etc come down and turn it into wine and when you take them off you just see the presit the glasses are back on and the preist is holding up the host and you see the Holy Spirit etc come down and the presit is holding a peice of flesh take them off and he’s holding up a Wafer

Younger kids love the video “Eucharist for Little Children”. It is our son’s favorite.

If you start when they are toddlers, taking them to Adoration and telling them that Jesus is there, and telling them you are going to see Jesus when you go up for Communion, you are planting seeds that will help make the discussion at First Communion time easier.

SHOW THEM JESUS ON THE CROSS AND EXPLAIN WHO; WHAT, AND WHY IN VERY SIMPLE: THAT IS GOD WHO LOVES US VERY MUCH:

BECAUSE GOD LOVES US SOOOOO MUCH HE’LL DO ANY GOOD THING SO THAT WE CAN JOIN HIM FOR EVER IN HEAVEN.

THE BEST THING GOD DOES IS TO ALLOW US TO ACTUALLY RECEIVE HIM [NO FURTHER DETAILED EXPLAINATION] IN HOLY COMMUNION.

HOW? GOD IS “GOOD” AND CAN DO ANY AND EVERY “GOOD THING’”

ALLOWING US TO RECEIVE HIM IN HOLY COMMUNION IS THE BEST “GOOD” GOD DOES FOR US.

WHY? BECAUSE GOD WANTS US TO BE “GOOD TOO.”
