I’m not sure this is the right place for this, so please feel free to move it if I’m wrong.
I sing in my church choir, I’m also a musician.
I learned to read music as a child, in school, at piano lessons, at singing lessons etc. and so forth.
Anyhow, we are a very small church. And most of the folks who sing in the choir cannot read music, not even a little bit.
So, I would like to give a few informal classes to teach them to read music. But I’ve never taught adults music of any kind.
The instruments available to me are guitars and an organ. I am not an organist really, though I have a firm grasp on piano playing.
So what I’m asking, can anyone help me by giving me some direction here? I really don’t know where to start even. These people don’t understand how to read flats and sharps, heck, most of them cannot follow a note on the scale.
Please help! I’d love our little choir to sound better!
