I thought it would be nice to post a news story about a Jewish woman who was reunited with the Catholic woman whose family helped hide her from the Nazi’s at the risk of the family being killed should someone discover they were hiding Jews in their home.

Tears for her savior

Woman who fled Nazis reunites with rescuer

Sixty-one years apart couldn’t dim the love and gratitude that Holocaust survivor Lea Ingel felt yesterday for the woman who saved her from the Nazis.

Ingel and Giedrute Ramanauskiene embraced and wept in one another’s arms when they were reunited at Kennedy Airport a day after Thanksgiving.

“I love her very much,” said Ingel, 84, struggling for the words to express her thanks to the Catholic woman who helped hide her from the Nazis for more than a year. “We were like sisters.”

I’m glad to hear this.

I just read the first book of the comic series “Maus” about the holocaust and there was a Catholic woman who risked her life to hide the main characters and I was wondering if they ever met again…and this made me happy that sometimes there are reunions.
