I like to make fun of feminists with my friends. Is this a sin?

If you mock them for their beliefs it might be a sin. How serious a sin depends on how severe the mockery.

I don’t make fun of any actual feminists. Just the ideology. Eg) Did you assume Dave’s species! What if he identifies as a cow!

I live in Eastern Oregon. We make jokes like this all the time. Even the feminists.

yes it is a sin

anything that passes judgement or that would be construed as an attack by the subject matter is a sin

You shall love your neighbor as yourself

Hurting somebody through humor is when wrath is paired with cowardice, because the person can excuse it on account of it being humor. Pretty much anybody that has gone to school has either experienced this at some point or seen it happen to somebody else.

It may show a lack of charity.

I know it’s really frustrating to deal with people who are strident and in your face about legalized abortion, but remember that Jesus died for them too, and a lot of people were not given the true facts of the matter, and a lot of them are carrying a lot of pain besides.

I’m not sure it’s a mortal sin, but it’s not agape, either.

It’s probably fine so long as you are making fun of the ideology and not specific individuals.

The cheap shot is criticism, always easy to find fault and be destructive not so easy to fix things and be constructive.

Sometimes it’s good to find someone with the attributes you admire most to emulate like say…Jesus.

Yes. You should make fun of feminists with your enemies; it’s part of loving them!

😳🤣🤯

uhm, marinate him in a a garlic sauce?

🤔😜😱
Why don’t you try to understand the reasoning behind the ideology rather than poking fun and mocking.
In this case, understanding leads to mocking . . .

Does it injure communion with others? Lots to think about there, dots to connect. Does it injure communion with God? How does God see the people that you are teasing? Would Christ participate in this conversation.
Sin is separation and division, so think about it that context.

Why do you like to do that? Do you think it is funny for someone to feel they were or, currently, are oppressed?

Even if you don’t understand why they feel that way, maybe you should try to empathize with what it feels like to be oppressed. Then maybe it won’t seem so funny to you.

Most people don’t just wake up one day and decide to be a feminist. Their experiences lead them there. And sometimes they are very unfortunate experiences. Try having some empathy.

maybe start with a better understanding of the word “understanding”
I’m using the word along the lines of “comprehension” rather than “agreement and assent” . . .

Comprehension does not necessarily lead to agreement, and can even lead to opposition or hostility to what is now underastood.

That’s not making fun of feminists: that’s making fun of trans people. Given the amount of crap the members of this demographic experience, I’d really encourage you to examine what your intent is in saying such things.

I would say that it seems foolish and unloving, and Jesus said foolishness defiles us and tells us to be loving.

Mark 7:20-23 “[20] And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
[21] For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
[22] Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
[23] All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

Luke 10:25-28 [25] And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
[26] He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
[27] And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
[28] And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live."
