TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) and Job’s Daughters

What is TEC and Job’s Daughters? When I was in a public High School, I had some friends and classmates who were in these organizations and wanted to join and be with my friends. My dad wouldn’t allow it.

Are these organizations anti-Catholic?
 
Are looking for something other than what can be found from a Google search?
 
Job’s Daughters are a Masonic group.

TEC is a Catholic youth ministry spirituality movement.
 
Yes, it’s the Masons. And while I am sure the individual members may not be anti-Catholic, the organization is.

Hmmm. Now I’m wondering what my classmate, who I was friendly with, really thought about my faith.
 
TEC is a great group that holds Catholic retreats for youth (usually ages 17-23). I attended a TEC retreat when I was in high school, as did my brothers. One of my brothers was quite active in the group, returning several years to help as a part of the retreat team. We had Mass every day, confession, and there was always a priest present the whole weekend who was the chaplain for the group.

The quality of the retreat/group may depend a bit on the particular area or region, but I think that they are mostly uniform in format. I know of many good, quality Catholic friendships that arose out of those retreats, and even marriages that happened because people met their future spouses there.

I wish my dad would’ve allowed me to go to one.
 
Odds are she didn’t think anything about it – as I said, most of the individual members don’t hold those views.

No, but you seem to ask questions that could easily be answered by doing some basic research on your own, like reading the Scripture and the Catechism.
 
Yeah well, virtually any question here can easily be answered by Googling or asking someone IRL.

I have rarely started any threads here, and I don’t post any questions if I can find the answer doing my own research.

If you had done some research on this thread topic, then still had questions, I think it would be appropriate to post them here.

I am curious why you would think that TEC is anti catholic, other than your father’s reaction?

Job’s daughter is Masonic, which has been rejected by the Catholic Church.
