So I was raised and a very strict protestant household. However when I was young my mother was a part of the Catholic Church, and being young I just went to church and did what my mom wanted.
Now as of 2 years ago, my mom and dad have had this ‘great waking’ and they oppose the Catholic Church completely. I, however, LOVE the Church. I like the way it’s set up, the formality of it, the true doctrine, IT’S THE FIRST CHURCH! Started by Jesus Christ. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be a part of this?
I don’t know, I guess I just don’t really know. I do however know I want to join the Church, but I obviously can’t until I turn 18 and leave the house.
I don’t know, I guess I’m asking for some pointers or help to try and live a low key Catholic life…

Speaking as a non Catholic:
1- pray. Your parents are not going to disagree with this!
2- read the bible. There are daily bible readings, which (if I remember correctly) you’ll go through the entire Bible over 2 years (might be three, someone please confirm). This would include the books not considered canonical by Non-Catholics.
3- Obey your parents. Stick with their church while you are with them. If it’s anything like mine, there is a lot of overlap on the theology. Test what you hear though (which everyone should be doing anyway).

I wish you well on your spiritual journey. Most of all- stick with God.

Pray, obey your parents, read the readings, listen to Catholic podcasts like Catholic Answers Live and then enter the Church when you are an adult.

I recommend Bishop Robert Barron’s YouTube videos as a place to start learning more about the faith. I watched them a lot as a teen.

Were you baptized as a child? Confirmed? Did you receive first communion?

No, I wasn’t. My dad was a Protestant and he wanted us, kids, to stay out of the Church. However, he let us attend Mass without mom. Now, us kids get in trouble and talked to harshly for singing ‘Ave Maria’. So both of my parents have gone strictly to a no Catholic anything.

I have thought of that, yet I am homeschooled, have no friends, and if I got caught, it would be very bad.

Watch live on EWTN I am pretty sure they have a live option if not I know Catholic TV has a live option but EWTN has a great mass both Latin and English its quite reverend. Catholic TV is great to Bishop Reed is a great man. That is the safest option most likley

I feel so bad I take my faith for granted sometimes but I realize that it isn’t the case for all even in this country I assume you are from the US. I will pray for you why dont they allow you to go

Yeah. I bought myself a Rosary, and felt horrible about hiding it from my parents. I was always on edge with it in my room. It was well hidden, but it didn’t feel right. I was breaking the 4th commandment. I just feel so bad, for hiding my beliefs from y parents. But I know my life would change drastically if I told them or even hinted.

I think it would be helpful if you could learn how to disagree without being disagreeable.
