Specifically, this is probably the only site run by teens for teens thinking about becoming priests.

Parish priests have quite a lot of freedom in terms of time - if you become a religious priest (belong to an order) you will take a vow of poverty, so you may not have money for movies.

Hi. I’m only 14, but I am already discerning a strong call to either the priesthood or the monastic life (probably Trappists). I’ve talked to my priest about it: he mostly says “just live your life well right now, and be patient.” I know that’s good advice, but I still want to be a priest NOW! Not to mention, even if I decide to be a monk, I still have to wait till I’m 21, because my parents have their hearts set on college. All this education and worldly stuff seems like dust in the wind to me, but they know what’s best, I suppose…

and most monastic orders accept candidates who are 21 years old and above, who has job experience. yah, it’s hard to wait! it’s sometimes depressing. but the Lord is good. Let’s trust Him. He knows well His plans (Jeremiah 29:11)

I’m only a year older and want to be a parish priest. My parents told me to work hard at school NOW because that is part of my preparation to become a better priest for Jesus.

I agree, it is so hard to wait. I think it is good though because even though some people may be ready out of high school but some aren’t going to be. So the best thing to do is offer it up for the holy souls in Purgatory.

I’m also 14, but I feel I am called to religious life. There are times, I really feel a strong call, that I wanted to enter a convent that very day. But still I consider that this time I am called to be a student, a good student and an obedient child to my parents.
 
**Selgi **and Silas Barnabas, it is good to see that you feel a call.
Of course, you are too young, but think about the fact that :

You’ve got plenty of time to try to find your different **gifts **you could one day give to your community (for religious life), your diocese (if a priest). Try to learn things you think you could develop (music, or writing, singing, playing an instrument, or whatever)

You have time to see things from the world before entering Religious Life. To have fun (not too much, of course :D)

It’s so good to be young! Try to meet other young people like you, to share this desire with them. 😉
 
You are so right. I feel called to be a nun and I’m 13. I’m impatient but hey, now’s the time to work on my faults and change them into virtues. Now’s the time to spiritually mature. So I’ll wait, and grow, and mature then when I’m old enough, I’ll join.
 
Hi, I’m 15 years old and I feel called to be a priest. I feel pretty strongely about this and Iwant to give my life to God. When can I be 100% sure that I am called to be a priest. What must I expect. Is there anyone else year round about my age that thinks they have a vocation to the priesthood?

Yes, we do! A bunch of teens have published their stories here:

We pray for each other every night and try to offer the best support we can. We also invite others to add their stories/comments/pray for us.

You can only be 100% sure that you are called to be a priest when the Bishop ordains you, but pray every single day for the wisdom and grace to discern God’s call, get a SD and talk to a good priest, and be involved in your parish life. I’ll certainly add you to my prayers tonight.

The best way to gain assurance regarding your vocation is to pursue the life of holiness to its utter end. You probably know, but in case you don’t, you are called to be perfectly holy. Live your vocation to holiness and it will become more apparent to you what God is calling you to. It’s hard to believe, but God wants you to do what will sanctify you the most. And it’s also hard to believe, but what God calls you to will also make you most happy (it will give you peace and joy). This is only borne out after extended time and with a lot of prayer.

Practically, this means:
  1. Spending a lot of time, daily, in prayer.
  2. Avoiding all sin (even venial).
  3. Frequenting the sacraments (Eucharist and confession).
Prayer is really, really important.

It’s good to hear that there are still some youth who discern for religious life. No one can be sure if they are really called, until the day that they were ordained or consecrated. It’s really a long way of discovery. As of now, I have some friends who are still persevering inside the seminary. Please pray for those young people, who feels that they are called to religious life.

Yes, I agree with this. the best way to maintain and nourish ones vocation is to intensify his or her prayer life and the daily attendance to the Eucharist. Also having frequent confession.

We are all called to holiness and there are different ways to respond to this. God’s will is mysterious and it’s really a long way of discovery.
 
Hi all.

I’ve now been on retreats with two orders, and I’m going on another one in late October(Cistercians). I love these retreats.👍

Maybe 'I’m even Catholic by then.😃

I’m going on my first retreat in November! It’s with the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist in Ann Arbor. I can’t wait, I’m so excited about it!!! Also I was invited to the profession of final vows on Thursday which I’m also very excited about!!!

Maybe I’ll end up visiting all the orders in Norway(not a lot), and then move outwards( it would be coolto visit USA, like Nashwille for example:cool:)

Have a nice trip!! I know nothing about that order, but I’m sure it’ll be interesting! We have a lot of professions coming up, one of them tomorrow and one of them is for someone I know.🙂
