I have a question…this may be really weird but I am watching this Christian network right now, and its all about “Giant Killers”, theyre talking about how David had the rock in his hand and released it to kill the giant, and so viewer can take the money in their hand and “release it” by sending in an amount of money to the show, and in return, this man is praying for them.

A woman just sent in a request about her knees and her sinuses and her bad financial situation, and hes praying, and hes telling the woman through the tv that her pain is leaving her, like, shes cured now because he prayed, hes saying that things will happen, and shes cured.

Hes healing via television, because she paid him to?

Is this a complete and total sin? Arent they doing something wrong here? This makes Christianity sound more like creepy late-night fortune teller hotlines or something. I am kind of disturbed, but is this sort of thing really okay? I dont even know what this is going to, theyre just talking about people being healed because they sent in money…a “love gift”…is this really Christianity?!
:hypno:

And side question, what is “propha-si” ?! Prophecy?!

**OK. I think he’s lying… that’s my impression.

Have you ever noticed how these various preachers always say, “God told me to tell you to send me money” in effect–NEVER “God told me to send money to you.”

There’s something in the Didache (first century Christian writing) that says if a wandering prophet (ancient equivalent of today’s TV preachers) should ask for anything for himself, he’s a false prophet.

Think about it!**

lol, that’s Not Quite the way it works.😃

Just a thought:

As I was driving in the city today I saw a marque in front of a church that read, “Many give God credit, but few give Him cash.”

I do believe I know what’s on that “pastor’s” mind. :banghead:

Oh, now, be charitable, brother.🙂

I’ve read here and elsewhere that Catholics become extremely annoyed by Protestants who assume they know what Catholics believe…and extremely accustomed to it, as well. “Oh! For a Protestant who would actually Study what we believe instead of using all these silly notions planted in their heads by others! !”

I may well be on my way across the Tiber, but it’ll be to achieve fullness of faith and not to reject the goodness of what has already been taught.

I had something happen to me once via TV. I was going through a very difficult time in my life

I am a Catholic and am not nor have ever been a supporter of Pat Robertson…but I was channel surfing and stopped on his network for a minute…I don’t even know why…but I was praying to God asking for help and a sign…Pat said he had a word of knowledge for someone and I know it was for me without a doubt

He described things that he couldn’t have known and where I was standing…It was too specific to be a lucky guess…I am not a fan of his, and dislike many things he says and disbelieve in many of the things he teaches…but he did help me and I feel God did speak to him about my situation

I watch EWTN and they never do fund raisers, nor pray like he does…but still I can not deny God worked through him…I must be fair and truthful

Man, am I ever in the right place.

Look, I’m not trying to be mean (which Father Larry last nite said was a sin anyway:)) but it has been my experience that if you say something a Protestant doesn’t like or quote a verse they find inconvenient, they will 1) pretend the verse doesn’t exist, and then 2) claim you’ve been misled by demons.

I’m finding a Catholic will say, "Yes, that verse is in the Bible, but let’s not base our entire theology on that one verse and go running off a cliff with it. Let’s examine the verses before it, after it, the ones similar to it, the ones that seem to contradict it, what the Church has historically said about it, " etc etc etc.

Your fairness is becoming somewhat unnerving. Y’all wanna cut it out before I wind up taking a swim?

There is good in all of us if we look for it…I swam the Tiber years ago and have never regretted it…Pat helped put Mother Angelica on the map…I think he might have given her a helping hand when it mattered

He is not my cup of tea, but many other people feel differently about him…I only know that he helped me by the grace of God
