Usually when one buys clothes second-hand at shops like Goodwill, one just wonders whether it’s been laundered properly.

According to the Huffington Post, Pat Robertson brought an entirely new worry to the fore on Monday’s episode of his “700 Club” program.

Responding to an email sent in by a viewer, the elderly televangelist said that, while not all clothes have demonic spirits attached to them, it never hurts to take some precautionary measures.

I wouldn’t give that another nanosecond of consideration.

This is a common belief among Jehovah’s Witnesses, I’m not sure why Pat Robertson is espousing it.

I am a person who is returning to the church after almost 30 years. I must say that reports such as this make me nervous! I’m finding so many things out about the Catholic church that I didn’t know, and I’m glad this is something extra I dont have to worry about!

To explain I have spina bifida and have a very very poor memory. My life can be a bit like that of a ‘goldfish’ in that I see things ‘new’ over and over when in reality I probably knew something before but have no memory of it. (I dont think I explained that very well lol) I get very frustrated with my lack of memory, so I’m glad I dont have to also worry about demons in second hand clothes etc. 😃 👍

Televangelists are demonic entities themselves. They all lead people away from Christ and towards hell through their man made protestant religions

Good old Pat Robertson, always looking at the brighter side of life.

Welcome Home!!!

As for the story, I think Pat Robertson need to get a clue.

Do some research and see if that person sells new clothes!

Now an article of clothing or any other object used in a satanic ritual can be posessed. I heard that on Catholic Answers. Not in those exact words but…

He might was well say that new clothes can have demons attached to them. Someone who help manufacture them, stocked them or tried them on may have been possessed. Queue eerie music.

Are these clothes from WalMart? KMart? JC Penny? Sears? Saks?
I mean, these questions gotta be asked.😃

I’m quite certain that I’ve read threads here in which members advise other members on procedures for exorcising demons from their houses. If it’s true that demons can possess things like houses, why couldn’t they possess things like clothing?

ETA:

From the CCC.

1673 When the Church asks publicly and authoritatively in the name of Jesus Christ that a person **or object **be protected against the power of the Evil One and withdrawn from his dominion, it is called exorcism. Jesus performed exorcisms and from him the Church has received the power and office of exorcizing. In a simple form, exorcism is performed at the celebration of Baptism. The solemn exorcism, called “a major exorcism,” can be performed only by a priest and with the permission of the bishop. The priest must proceed with prudence, strictly observing the rules established by the Church. Exorcism is directed at the expulsion of demons or to the liberation from demonic possession through the spiritual authority which Jesus entrusted to his Church. Illness, especially psychological illness, is a very different matter; treating this is the concern of medical science. Therefore, before an exorcism is performed, it is important to ascertain that one is dealing with the presence of the Evil One, and not an illness.

Pat Robertson has a long history of saying ridiculous things. This is just one more. He’s kind of the evangelical Joe Biden.

I find it interesting that on this point the Church and New-Age ghost-hunters seem to converge. Based on my own religious teaching, I do not believe in any of this except in Jewish folklore.

Indeed Joe Biden would have made a great televangelist. It would be better than any ideas he might have for running for President in 2016.
