Why not stick with the REAL things, the real and approved teachings and writings of the Church? These other things might feel good or make someone feel more spiritual but unless they lead a SOUL TO A MORE SACRAMENTAL LIFE, then they have no true value or lasting value, If they are a springboard to a deeper sacramental life, then there is at least that to say for them but do they?

There are lots of modern writers who only provide a pseudo-spirituality. Do not fall for specious writings!

You can check with the New Advent site and other sites that will give you critiques on different writers.

I know a lady who claims her new age out of body techniques bring people to Catholicism. Nope. They are only a distraction.
And so much for many other techniques and so forth.

Please restrict valuable time to tried and TRUE writings. Read works of t he Holy Father for example and the saints. There is so much wonderful material that several lifetimes are not enough. Fr. Hardon once wrote up a list of 100 best Catholic books–check that out instead of these others.

The following is directly from the Vatican’s 1981 sanction against de Chardin (following up on and reiterating the 1962 sanction against him):
“Prescinding from a judgment about those points that concern the positive sciences, it is sufficiently clear that the above-mentioned works abound in such ambiguities and indeed even serious errors, as to offend Catholic doctrine.
For this reason, the most eminent and most revered Fathers of the Holy Office exhort all Ordinaries as well as the superiors of Religious institutes, rectors of seminaries and presidents of universities, effectively to protect the minds, particularly of the youth, against the dangers presented by the works of Fr. Teilhard de Chardin and of his followers.”
You are right on target regarding both this heretic, and Thomas Merton in your previous post as well.
