It is said, and I know of at least two occasions, that while reading St. Theresa’s book you will experience the scent of roses. This can occur while you are driving an automobile or even at the computer. It will happen…although not necessarily while having her book in your hands only that you are in the process of reading. The scent is for a short duration and yet unmistakable.

Why are so many people venerate the Little Flower? Can anyone tell me why they like her so much and what is it about her that inspires you?
She is a Saint that many people talk about and I’ve just realised that I know very little about her. I’m interested in knowing more.

I took an entire course in her writings and read everything she wrote and never once smelled roses, and never had in re-reading her writings and in praying to her. I guess it doesn’t happen to everyone

She is an amazing saint,but she led a hidden,ordinary life as a Carmelite.It was her little deeds which made her so good,not great ones.I suppose she is so popular because she is so accessable to ordinary people.She shows that you don’t have to be great to be a saint,and gives hope to everyone.You can find out a bit about her here-

Great saint and doctor of the church.
Her remains did a tour of Oz a few yrs ago. She is very popular here and is our patron saint.
My brother prayed to her for a flower a while ago. A popular devotion. That day his young daughter gave him a flower. She’d never done that before. It blew him away.
That same young daughter has decided to be catholic a few days ago too. I think we both prayed to St Therese for her yrs ago. She’s 8 yo and had a serious talk to her mother about wanting to be catholic.

I asked for a single yellow rose while doing a novena to her for me and my girlfriend. We got a single yellow rose, and later my girlfriend gets a fulltime job - that is the intention of our prayer.

When I was converting to the Church, it came time to pick a confirmation saint. I had many I admired, but couldn’t narrow it down. Easter was getting closer, so I prayed that I would somehow know who to choose. A couple nights later, I had a dream about Therese as a young girl, and she and I were lost, but were helping each other find the way home. I knew immediately what that meant! She was my patron as I found my way home to the Catholic Church.
Then at my confirmation party, my husband’s aunt said she had a gift for me. She did NOT know ahead of time about any of what had happened, but she gave me a rosary with Therese in the center piece, and roses on the Crucifix. It had belonged to my husband’s grandfather. Quite the ‘coincidence’, huh?

I would like to encourage everyone to read the writings of the little Therese and take them seriously (despite their style, which is not to everyone’s liking), since she is the Doctor of the Science of Divine Love.
I am not one given to seeing or hearing things. Two prodigious moments of my life involve little Therese, however. At two important moments in the discovery of my vocation, I smelled the scent of roses in a place where I knew there was no normal source for such an odor. I had never heard of anyone having such an experience and was not looking for it, but it was a sign for me of the presence of the Blessed Mother and little Therese and a confirmation that I was not alone, come what may.
Therese’s Little Way is made especially for ordinary people today. Holiness is possible, and the quickest way is the way of confidence and love. I recommend her Act of Oblation to Merciful Love, especially the end, as a summary of what she tried to live and what she is still helping other souls live. An excellent commentary on the heart of Therese’s vocation, “On St Therese of Lisieux’s Act of Offering,” can be found here: stjean.com/EN/Publications_mdp.htm#2

She seems to be one of the most popular saints around.
There is a female poster who post alot in science treads that has my favorite photo of her, without the Carmelite habit. She looks like a ordinary teenage blonde girl would look today but her eyes are amazing. She looked wise beyond her years, as she knew that she will not live long and needed to burn in fire for Christ in the shortest time possible.
