Temple veil means Priests are not needed?

debating with this guy about Reconciliation he made this claim

“When Jesus died on the cross, the veil in the temple (which seperated the priest and congregation asking for forgiveness) was ripped in two. This took away the need for the priest.
Matthew 27:31-56, Mark 15:20-41, Luke 23:26-49, John 19:17-30”

I had never heard this interpretation, and though other verses suggest the need of confession, what do you guys think?
 
First of all the viels were used to conceal the Ark of the Covenant in the HOLY of HOLIES. When the viels were torn this is revealing the Ark, at once it indicates the destruction of the temple, and JESUS rebuilds the temple in three days. JESUS is the COVENANT and the new Ark of the Covenant is MOTHER MARY.

Exodus 26:30 *And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the pattern that was shewn thee in the mount.
31 *Thou shalt make also a veil of violet and purple, and scarlet twice dyed, and fine twisted linen, wrought with embroidered work, and goodly variety:
32 *And thou shalt hang it up before four pillars of setim wood, which themselves also shall be overlaid with gold, and shall have heads of gold, but sockets of silver.

This of course doesn’t take away the need for a priest, but it does give us a new TEMPLE, which is the BODY OF CHIST, and a new HIGH PRIEST which is JESUS CHRIST.

Now protestants argue, that we all go directly to JESUS. However, we can offer intercessory prayers. Particularly through our MOTHER MARY, i’d read Esther in comparison with Luke Chapter 1 for more evidence of this. We can also ask our brothers and sisters, in the CHURCH, to pray for us. The CHURCH beging HEAVEN, purgatory, and Earth. All souls in CHRIST. It is TRUE that JESUS our HIGH PRIEST is the way to GOD OUR FATHER, and JESUS pleads all our prayers to GOD OUR FATHER to our benefit. That we may all be saved, as only JESUS is worthy, and CHRIST JESUS is our HEAD in HIS BODY.

Of course denying the need for priests is denying JESUS needed apostles, or the apostles apointed priests, presbyters, bishops, and ministers of the CHURCH . … it is clear that they did.

So what were the Apostles doing when they were using Bishops and Priests? Were they doing wrong?

Do you self medicate when you are ill or do you seek the help of a human physician? God uses men to reveal His truth to others. Jesus gave the Apostles the power to forgive or retain sin. The Apostles, through the power of the Holy Spirit, passed this power to those who would follow them in the Apostalic role of ordained priesthood. It is Christ to whom I submit when, of my own volition, I submit to the men who act on His behalf and accept the grace that flows through them from God himself.
 
The word used for torn is “Schizo”. We see this word early in Mark’s Gospel at Jesus’ Baptism when he describes that the heavens were rent “Schizo”.

The only time that the word Schizo is used in the OT is in Isaiah, chapter 64, where Isaiah was asking God to save Israel and lead them into a new Exodus. "Oh (Lord), that you would rend (schizo) the heavens and come down, with the mountains quaking before you," (Is. 64:1). God has rent the heavens, and He has come down to be with us. He dwells within our souls, our temples, like He hasn’t done since the time of Adam and Eve. The veil, that’s been put up since the time of Eden, preventing us from being with God has been torn in two.
 
Here is one of those cases where it helps to have read all of Leviticus & Deuteronomy, so, 😉 I’ll just sit here, while you all go :eek: do that…

No, seriously: When you read up on the Old Testament priesthood, the sacrifices that went on in the temple, day after day, and year after year, the priests received the meat from the sacrifices for their food. No one else was even allowed to touch them, once they were dedicated to the temple. There were even rules about which relatives of the priests were entitled to the meat.

OK, the veil was rent in two.
So now, when you go to your church on Sunday morning, who receives the Sacrifice?? Just your priest?? Of course not!! You all line up & go up there, because you no longer have to be descended from the priestly tribes of Israel for that. The priest doesn’t take the elements behind a screen & destroy what he doesn’t have himself; he doesn’t gather it up, & feed his mother & sisters & brothers, & then burn the rest; he distributes it to the people!!
That is the big difference. The Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world gives Himself for ALL. His death is for all who will believe & receive Him.👍 👍
