The last couple of times, I have noticed that I am strongly tempted within days of confession. The first time I didn’t realize what was going on…this time I am beginning to make a connection.

Has anyone else noticed this/have this happen to them?

Days? Sometimes within MINUTES of making my confession! Frustrating, isn’t it?

Absolutely! And it totally makes me crazy. But I don’t let that keep me away from the sacrament; rather, I increase the prayers and just keep resisting (or plain “fleeing”) the temptations as best I can.

I believe the devil tries harder to attack you after confession because you are more Christ-like. Don’t let your guard down.

I don’t know… I almost find it to be the opposite. Maybe it is just that with the grace I get in confession, I find it easier to resist that temptation.

Absolutely! In fact I find that I have to try harder right after confession but then I think that our conscience is peaked at that time. This is not to say that I am not aware of my sins always but right after confession I am aware of my being in the state of grace and really want to remain that way. So every temptation is magnified, if you will, and as time goes on I tend to get a bit lax. So, perhaps, that is why I go to weekly confession. The graces of the Sacrament and the soul check-up does help me to resist most temptations and reminds me that when I am weak I am strong…teachccd 🙂

This is what I am thinking as well…almost like a child having a tantrum because he wants your attention back.

Although I don’t want to get into the specific temptation, it is the same one both times. I think my awareness (as well as the graces obtained during confession) will help fight it however. I hope I can get rid of it for good.

You too! And I thought I was the only weak one around here…:o Seriously though, this happens to me almost everytime, and almost everytime, I keep falling back into it and having to go to confession again(lately, anyways)… It’s frustrating. But I keep trying even If I don’t feel like it. I force myself into it, believing that If I keep trying, I will succeed.
