Sometimes you just have to wait it out; let yourself cool down. Turn on some music, take a few deeps breaths, make yourself some food, etc.Temptations. How do you beat them?
Firstly, you have the thoughts. How can one eradicate those thoughts when they burn in your mind.
How does one stop your body ‘wanting’ those tempting things, like lustful thoughts?
Acting on them can be soul destroying afterward.
How does one beat temptations?
Temptations occur in the imagination. If a temptation to do evil enters one’s imagination through external stimulation then avoid those occasions or situations. If a temptation enters one’s imagination internally from one’s own memory then pray for the grace of forgetfulness.Temptations. How do you beat them?

Well said.Temptations occur in the imagination. If a temptation to do evil enters one’s imagination through external stimulation then avoid those occasions or situations. If a temptation enters one’s imagination internally from one’s own memory then pray for the grace of forgetfulness.
If one lets the imagined temptation move to the intellect and wills to dwell upon it then the best opportunity to avoid the sin has passed.
And that’s what I tell me confessor. They know we are human and make mistakes (so are they…shockerWell said.
Still finding it EXTREMELY difficult with temptations! Images keep popping up of past mortal sins which i try not to dwell on but i sometimes stay with them and enjoy them! Then i know i need confession. Sometimes i go and carry out the same mortal sin again and again even though i know it is so wrong.
Never ending battle
I repeat, NEVER GIVE UP THE BATTLE.Still headed for hell…
Trying but very very difficult indeedI repeat, NEVER GIVE UP THE BATTLE.
Lost4words,
I read your posts, but you didn’t say what your temptations were. You may need a support group to free you from that sin. I too have felt what you’re posting…
God Bless
What on earth are you talking about? You are implying what my sins are and you have no idea what they are, yet you are suggesting a support group? By the way, CAF is not a confessional, or Dear Abby. My sins are between myself, my confessor and God.CatholicFireman,

And we are always praying for you, my friend.Trying but very very difficult indeed
This thread is about how to beat your temptations, not asking people what their temptations are. It matters little if one’s temptations are drink, or sexual, or M&Ms. They can be managed with prayer, distraction or substituting something that is healthier and not damaging.CatholicFireman,

Hello, I was not asking what Lost4words temptations are. I suggested a support group because I am in one and it has help me greatly. I believe God lead me to this Cathloic based support group. Needless to say, I very seldom post on this forum and probably won’t again. This thread is about how to beat your temptations, not asking people what their temptations are.
