What’s the problem here? Afghan women have worn the chador and the full burqa for ages:

I own one of these and wear it. I feel safe and protected.

This is a picture of a Muslim woman being protected from Muslim men.

The rest of the non-Muslim world do not wear these clothes, because if a Muslim man were to harm any woman as he would do to one of these not wearing this…and who knows what else he would do to her…he would end up in prison.

That’s what I’ve never understood about such coverings… it really, really, really makes their males look like animals. If such small glimpses of women can tempt a man then what kind of man is that?

I find these coverings far more offensive to Muslim men then the women. 🤷

Exactly.

Some how, Islam has not addressed or helped Muslim men control their passions, but the the true faith of Christ has…dying to self and putting the New Man, Jesus Christ…and putting on the full armor of faith…

The incessant fighting, ‘frenzied fundamentalism’, and the degradation of women into objects…it isn’t everywhere in the Islam world…but it reflects badly on its men.

They are not saved from their passions.

If you want to dress up like a tent that’s fine.
But that’s not the issue.

Muslims like the Afghani Taliban expect ALL women to cover themselves to the point where they don’t even look human anymore.

Its not about fashion or vanity, its an issue of coercion.

I honestly think that Sharia Law as practiced by groups like the Taliban or the Saudis actually encourages men to sexually abuse women.

Think about it.

If you were a woman living under a group like that, and you were raped, would you report the rape?, knowing that if it people learned what had happened to you, you would probably be the one shunned and executed.

Of course not.

Now imagine all the men around you also took the that system for granted. And they knew that they would face little to no punishment even if they were caught raping a woman.

How much could you trust those men?
How much would they bother to restrain themselves if they were tempted?

Yes…good insight…and nothing justifies wearing such garb except protection from crazy men.

Sexual Predators are like thieves: nothing can stop them. Here, in my place, they Bank Machines with Bulldozers. Others make tunnels to reach them.

Noticed the lady in Burkha? She has got nice feet and well treated! What I noticed when i went to Morocco is that the ladies in Burkha (not total burkha but where we could see the eyes or the face were much more attractive than in the western world.

Look: sometimes we see in the west ladies wearing brutal minikirsts with such fatty legs that we wish they wore burkha. There, there is much more color. The vestments are long, very colorful and bright, float in the wind and are very elegant.

It’s like the beach: you see so many bikinis and topless ladies that your eyes get clogged and you do not pay attention any more.

In the middle is the virtue: not too much, not too less…

I agree with your last statement as well…

Yes, moderation is the essence of virtue.

I also notice how women looked when I was young…then the miniskirt came…but the women had such good skin and hair…and some depth…

I think the person’s soul comes through as well…those who parade around with little on aren’t pretty because they have little going on inside. I remember hearing guys speak about pretty faces being so common…

It goes back to the depth of the heart…where you decide to place it and nurture it.

I also have seen beautiful Muslim women here who have contempt for us…I dress modestly…and pick up on the condemnation they have towards all Western women…and I don’t think they are pretty as hate the dispositions of their hearts re proud and hateful.

Yes, this degrades women in a way that even the nastiest pornography cannot.

Porn may objectify women but at least it treats them as desirable/good things.
This kind of Sharia law treats women like evil/shameful things that must be hidden from the sight of people (i.e. men).
Yet I as a woman would choose any day to live the rest of my life forced to wear a burka instead of being in one single porn movie.

Both porn and burka are DEHUMANIZING women. Men who respect and love women and have any integrity at all must be against both porn and burkas.
Burka takes away the identity/the person… so does porn.

Men in Islamic world should learn to cover their own eyes, or stay at home so women can drive on the streets and walk around freely… its the Muslim men who have issues, and unfortunaley the women have internalized the sick view …

I say this because I have been inside of the system to some degree… I used to date a muslim man and came to know his whole family personally and was insider in a muslim environment in one of the freer societies in the Middle East, namely in Israel…

There I saw how the hypocrisy was very clear: women had to cover… they couldn’t even talk to a man alone without being subjected to gossip that might ruin their future prospects.
The mothers were lower in the hierarchy than their sons, they had no say.
The little sisters had to obey their brothers, even when their requests were irrational.
Women had to be pure and covered up while the men were often out drinking, fighting, going off with secular israeli girls, sleeping around and watching porn.
Even less religious families were fiercely dominating their girl’s virtue.
The idea of women bringing shame on their fathers house there is idiotically widespread… while men act the way they want.
Often girls are forced, and boys pressured, to marry very young. Women have no right to demand freedom from sex in Islam, but is to be available to her husband acc. to Quran and Sharia… I met quite a few ladies who had more children then they could care for, and I got an idea why some of these children grow up to be rather rough people themselves…

Not a good impression… Interestingly enough, my friends in the environment were honest to me that all this nonsense is going on. Especially one girl was very open.
I have a European friend who converted to islam. Even he says his muslim wife is lucky to have a man raised in Christian culture… he also admits that Islam really discriminates women.

After reading this post, I pray more and more Muslim women discover Mary…yes, I know they venerate her…but in the dimension of Mary as Christ’s mother…to support them in their innate dignity.

There is alot to be said about Israel/Palestine. I used to go to a Jewish center, that shared with me info on the re-development of Israel and the mass migration of Muslims into Israel.

A client was Gentile and married an Israeli Jew who fought in the late 1940’s. She used to work at the library and had excellent books with photos…I perused one…this book written by a Jew, and it showed a weather beaten Arab wife…The story went that her spouse took on another wife. They lived in extremely small quarters. Only a sheet separated her in bed from her husband and new spouse. The Jewish writer had the utmost sympathy for this poor woman who was eventually shut out. I know Muslims will come on and say all their women are cared for.

And I wonder about the Muslims who made Jerusalem a special place in its own right before the Crusaders. When they ran Jerusalem afterwards, they were impressed with the lifestyle the Muslims, tolerant of Jews and Christians to practice their faith along with their lower status…

What I was told was that in time Palestine became a place of squatters, undeveloped…and I wonder what kind of Muslims came into Israel…were they from long abiding Arab Muslims or from the behaviors you have described…a more tribal genre…it sounds awful…and yes…I know of Muslim men behaviors and double standards as these…so … these burkas are worn to protect them from their own men…

Maranatha, Christ!

The problem here is the coercion, not the chador. Any forced wearing of any sort of garment, or indeed any forced action, is bad.

I freely choose to wear the chador and every other veiled Muslimah I know does so because of her free choice.

http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon14.gif I agree with both of you…

Ironically, who can really help the Muslim men, if they cannot accept Christ as He truly is…is Blessed Mother Mary of Fatima.

Mary is Virgin Most Pure.

I am starting to renew my reparation for all the things that are done against Mary by other Christians, and by the sins of the flesh.

Mary of Fatima said that more souls go to hell on account of sins of the flesh than any other sin.

Muslim men will go down there, too, if they do not seek to have pure hearts, souls, and minds.

Mary is the greatest friend and advocate for sinners.

Muslim men need to find Mary…a woman…to straighten them out. She loves all people very, very much.

A Muslim man who finally becomes humble and goes to Mary for his sins of impurity…will find out she will help him become more a real man, a strong man who can control himself, and make himself presentable before God with confidence.

So in practice Islam doesn’t even have the Honor Thy Father* and* Thy Mother principal that Christianity and Judaism do?

Then why did he convert?
